Overview

The Editorial Assistant in Journal Editorial Operations supports the end-to-end peer review

and quality assurance process, ensuring efficient manuscript handling from submission

through editorial decision and production handoff.

This role combines responsibilities across manuscript management (JEO), image

integrity screening, and reviewer selection, playing a critical role in maintaining the

quality, integrity, and timeliness of scholarly publishing workflows.

The position requires strong coordination with authors, editors, reviewers, and internal

teams while adhering to journal guidelines, ethical standards, and turnaround time (TAT)

expectations within peer review systems such as ScholarOne, Editorial Manager, and ReX.

Key Responsibilities

Manuscript & Editorial Management (JEO)

• Manage manuscripts throughout the full lifecycle: submission, review, revision, and

final decision

• Perform initial quality checks (formatting, completeness, ethics, COI, plagiarism

flags)

• Assign Associate Editors based on journal scope and guidelines
• Monitor peer review progress and send reminders to reviewers and editors
• Handle revisions, resubmissions, and manuscript transfers
• Ensure compliance with journal workflows and policies
• Maintain accurate manuscript records, trackers, and databases
• Prepare reports on manuscript status, turnaround time, and performance metrics
• Support special issues, invited submissions, and editorial projects
• Transfer accepted manuscripts to production with complete documentation
