Walk-in || STAFF NURSE

Roles and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

• Assess and monitor patients regularly and report any changes in condition to the doctor/Ward In-charge.
• Provide direct nursing care according to the patient's condition and treatment plan.
• Check and record vital signs, intake/output, pain score, and other required observations.
• Assist patients with personal hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and other daily needs.
• Maintain patient comfort, safety, dignity, and privacy.

Medication & Treatment

• Administer medications, injections, IV fluids, and other treatments as prescribed.
• Follow correct medication administration procedures and maintain medication records.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions and immediately report abnormalities.
• Perform wound care, dressing, catheter care, and other nursing procedures as required.

Doctor & Team Coordination

• Assist doctors during rounds and procedures.
• Communicate patient updates and critical observations promptly.
• Coordinate with laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, OT, ICU, and other departments when required.
• Participate in patient admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.

Documentation

• Maintain accurate and timely nursing notes and patient records.
• Record vital signs, medications, treatments, procedures, and patient progress.
• Maintain nursing checklists, handover records, and other ward documentation.
• Ensure proper shift handover to the incoming nursing staff.

Infection Control & Safety

• Follow hospital infection-control policies and standard precautions.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper disposal of biomedical waste.
• Follow patient identification and safety protocols.
• Report incidents, medication errors, falls, or other safety concerns immediately.

Emergency Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to medical emergencies within the ward.
• Assist doctors during emergency procedures and resuscitation.
• Ensure emergency equipment and supplies are available and ready for use.

Ward Management

• Maintain proper stock of medicines, consumables, and nursing supplies.
• Check equipment and report any malfunction to the concerned department.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe ward environment.
• Follow hospital policies, procedures, and nursing standards.
