Position: Senior Engineer - Import & Export (Purchase)

Purpose of the Role

The Senior Engineer - Import & Export will be responsible for managing end-to-end international procurement activities, import-export operations, customs compliance, logistics coordination, and supplier management for BESS projects. The role will ensure timely availability of imported materials, optimize logistics costs, and maintain regulatory compliance for global sourcing activities.

Key Responsibilities

Import & Export Operations

• Manage end-to-end import and export activities for BESS components, battery systems, electrical and mechanical parts.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, shipping lines, and logistics service providers.
• Ensure timely customs clearance and delivery of imported materials to manufacturing locations.
• Monitor shipment schedules and proactively address delays or logistics issues.

International Procurement Support

• Support global sourcing initiatives by coordinating with overseas suppliers.
• Analyze quotations, Incoterms, freight costs, duties, and landed costs.
• Execute purchase orders and track deliveries from international suppliers.
• Ensure continuity of supply for critical imported components.

Customs & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with DGFT, Customs, FEMA, GST, and other applicable import-export regulations.
• Manage documentation such as Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bill of Lading, Airway Bills, Certificates of Origin, and Insurance documents.
• Coordinate duty optimization initiatives under applicable schemes and trade agreements.
• Maintain accurate import-export records for audits and statutory requirements.

Logistics & Cost Management

• Optimize freight and logistics costs through effective vendor negotiations.
• Monitor inventory in transit and reduce lead times.
• Develop logistics performance metrics and supplier scorecards.
• Support budgeting and cost-saving initiatives related to international supply chain operations.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with Purchase, Planning, Manufacturing, Finance, Quality, and Project teams.
• Work closely with global suppliers to resolve shipment and documentation issues.
• Support new project sourcing requirements and localization initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Production Engineering.
• Additional certification in EXIM Management, Supply Chain Management, or International Trade preferred.

Experience

• 5 to 8 years of experience in Import & Export operations, International Procurement, or Global Supply Chain Management.
• Experience in Automotive, EV, Battery Manufacturing, Energy Storage, Power Electronics, or Industrial Manufacturing preferred.
• Exposure to international sourcing and customs regulations is mandatory.
