Job Summary: Power BI Developer (Contract)

The role requires strong technical expertise in Power BI, SQL, DAX, Power Query, data modeling, and automated data pipelines. The successful candidate will be responsible for building scalable dashboards, developing KPIs, performing business data analysis, integrating multiple data sources, and implementing secure, governed, and high-performing BI solutions. The candidate will work closely with Business Analysts, Product Managers, Data Engineers, Enterprise Architects, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into impactful visual analytics and reporting solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Dashboard Development: Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and executive scorecards.

2. Data Visualization & Analytics: Create KPIs, visualizations, and analytical reports that deliver actionable business insights.

3. Data Modeling: Build and optimize Star/Snowflake schemas, semantic models, and enterprise data models.

4. DAX & Power Query: Develop advanced DAX measures and Power Query transformations for complex business reporting.

5. SQL & Data Engineering: Write optimized SQL queries and develop automated ETL/ELT pipelines for data integration and reporting.

6. Data Integration: Integrate Power BI with enterprise systems including SQL Server, Azure SQL, SharePoint, REST APIs, Salesforce, and other business applications.

7. Performance Optimization: Optimize dashboards, datasets, DAX, SQL queries, and data refresh processes for scalability and performance.

8. Power BI Administration: Manage Power BI Service, workspaces, gateways, dataflows, deployment pipelines, scheduled refreshes, and security (RLS/OLS).

9. Governance & Compliance: Implement Power BI governance, data security, version control, and reporting standards.

10. Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with business and technical teams to gather requirements and deliver scalable BI solutions.

11. Documentation & Support: Maintain technical documentation, provide production support, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvements.

12. Technical Leadership: Mentor junior developers, conduct peer reviews, establish development standards, and promote BI best practices.

Required Skills:

1. Domain Expertise: Strong understanding of freight forwarding, logistics, supply chain operations, shipment lifecycle, and operational KPIs (SLA, OTD, transit time, exceptions).

2. MIS Reporting & Data Management: Experience designing scalable MIS frameworks, automated reporting, data consolidation, KPI definitions, and data validation across enterprise systems.

3. Data Analysis & Business Intelligence: Strong analytical skills with expertise in trend analysis, variance analysis, root cause analysis, and converting data into actionable business insights.

4. KPI Design & Performance Management: Ability to define, standardize, and monitor business KPIs, scorecards, and performance metrics aligned with organizational goals.

5. Commercial & Operational Analytics: Experience analyzing revenue, cost, margins, productivity, profitability, and operational performance to support business decisions.

6. Data Storytelling & Visualization: Ability to present complex data through intuitive dashboards, executive reports, and compelling visual narratives.

7. Business Acumen: Strong understanding of business processes with the ability to translate business challenges into data-driven solutions and strategic recommendations.

8. Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience working across Operations, Finance, Commercial, Technology, and leadership teams.

Qualifications & Experience:

Educational Qualification:

• Bachelors Degree (Mandatory):

*B.E. / B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field

• Academic Foundation Expectation:

* Strong grounding in data analysis, statistics, and problem-solving methodologies

* Understanding of business processes, especially in logistics or supply chain domains

Overall Experience:

• 6 - 10 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or Reporting.

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on Power BI development experience.

• Strong experience with SQL Server, data modeling, and DAX.

• Experience building automated ETL/ELT pipelines and enterprise reporting solutions.

• Experience integrating multiple enterprise data sources into Power BI.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.

• Exposure to logistics, supply chain, finance, manufacturing, or enterprise business domains is desirable.
