Job SummaryThe Doctor Referral Coordinator manages the outbound and inbound referral process for patients requiring specialized medical care. This role acts as the primary liaison between patients, primary care physicians, specialists, and insurance companies to ensure seamless, timely, and compliant transitions of care.Key Responsibilities

• Manage Referrals: Process all inbound and outbound specialist referrals, ensuring accurate data entry and medical record transmission.
• Insurance Verification: Obtain prior authorizations, track insurance approvals, and verify patient benefits for specialist visits.
• Patient Navigation: Coordinate appointment scheduling between patients and external specialist clinics, providing clear instructions to patients regarding their appointments.
• Provider Relations: Maintain strong relationships with external specialist offices, hospitals, and diagnostic centers to streamline care coordination.

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a medical office setting, medical billing, or health insurance navigation.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with medical CRM software and EHR/EMR platforms (e.g., Epic, eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth).
• Medical Knowledge: Familiarity with basic medical terminology, ICD-10/CPT coding, and insurance authorization processes (PPO, HMO, Medicare).
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients, doctors, and insurance representatives.
• Organization: High attention to detail with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
