Background

After providing direct intervention services to persons with neurodevelopmental disabilities in Bangalore for over a decade, we have now started a Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) center in Ramanagara to cater to the needs of the local population, focusing on vocational training livelihood.

Description

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker for a Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Center in Ramanagara. This role will be instrumental in facilitating the transition from "therapy" to "livelihood" for adolescents, adults and caregivers

Skills Required

• Demonstrable or relevant rural rapport-building skills
• Proficient in Office tools and Google Products
• Excellent organisational skills
• Ability to multitask
• Critical thinker and problem solver
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Kannada and English

Responsibilities

• Skill Assessment: Identify the vocational interests and aptitudes of PwDs and Caregivers
• Curriculum Development: Create local-market-aligned training modules (e.g., tailoring, horticulture, or local crafts)
• Livelihood Support: Assist in setting up small-scale income-generation activities within the CBR
• Job Coaching: Provide soft-skills training and support in "Supported Employment" setups
• Traveling across the district to support partnership building, program implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
• Help in organisation development

Ideal Candidate

• Graduates in Social Work, Development, or Rural Development
• Diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation (IDD) or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience in skill-building for PwDs
• Understands the functioning of a non-profit and can contribute to disability sector at large

Good-to-have Skills

• I. If you have worked for a non-profit/NGO/start-up before
• 2. If you have previously worked in rural Karnataka at the grassroots level
