VMC Milling Machine Setter

Role & responsibilities

• Set up and operate Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) machines as per production requirements.
• Perform machine setting, tool setting, workpiece clamping, and fixture setting.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and machining specifications.
• Select and install suitable cutting tools, holders, and fixtures.
• Set tool offsets, work offsets, and machining parameters as per the program.
• Load, prove out, and run Milling programs, making adjustments when required.
• Conduct first-piece inspection and verify component dimensions using measuring instruments.
• Use vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other precision instruments.
• Monitor machining operations and ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Identify and troubleshoot machining issues, tool wear, vibration, and dimensional variations.
• Maintain production output as per cycle time and quality standards.

• Follow preventive maintenance, 5S, and workplace safety procedures.

Preferred candidate profile

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
• Experience in CNC/VMC machining, preferably in automotive or precision component manufacturing.
• Ability to perform independent machine setting, troubleshooting, and production support.
