    About this role

    Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced VDI Engineer to join Terex's Global Infrastructure & Operations organization, aligned to the India Centre of Excellence. This role is hands-on and operationally focused, responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) platforms, including VMware Horizon, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), and Workspace-based solutions.

The VDI Engineer will work closely with end-user computing, infrastructure, network, security, and service desk teams to ensure stable, secure, and performant virtual desktop services for Terex's global workforce. The role operates as part of a globally integrated follow-the-sun support model, partnering closely with teams in Northern Ireland Centre of Excellence and other regions.

    Key Responsibilities

    VDI Platform Operations & Support

    • Provide day-to-day operational support for enterprise VDI platforms including VMware Horizon, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), and Workspace-based environments.
    • Monitor VDI environments for availability, performance, and capacity, ensuring a consistent end-user experience.
    • Diagnose and resolve incidents related to VDI access, performance degradation, profile issues, and session stability.
    • Execute platform changes through structured change management, validation, and post-change monitoring.
    • Support patching, image management, and lifecycle management of virtual desktop images.

    User Experience & Incident Management

    • Act as an escalation point for complex VDI-related incidents from service desk and EUC teams.
    • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring VDI issues and support corrective action planning.
    • Partner with endpoint, application, and identity teams to resolve end-user connectivity and access challenges.
    • Contribute to continuous service improvement focused on reliability and user experience.

    Infrastructure, Networking & Connectivity

    • Troubleshoot VDI-related networking issues including latency, connectivity, gateway access, and hybrid cloud integration.
    • Partner with network teams to ensure VDI platforms are optimally integrated with on-premises and cloud networks.
    • Support secure access models including VPN, identity federation, conditional access, and MFA where applicable.

    Security & Access Management

    • Enforce security best practices across VDI environments in alignment with Terex security standards.
    • Support role-based access models and least-privilege principles for VDI administration.
    • Partner with security teams to remediate vulnerabilities, audit findings, and compliance requirements related to VDI platforms.
    • Support logging, monitoring, and alerting for VDI infrastructure and access events.

    Operational Excellence & Documentation

    • Maintain operational runbooks, standard operating procedures, and knowledge articles for VDI platforms.
    • Identify automation opportunities to reduce manual effort and operational risk.
    • Support platform reliability initiatives and contribute to incident trend analysis.
    • Participate in on-call or follow-the-sun support rotations where required.

    Required Qualifications

    Experience

    • 6 to 10 years of overall infrastructure, EUC, or virtual desktop engineering experience.
    • 4+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise VDI platforms.
    • Proven experience supporting production environments with strong operational discipline.

    Technical Skills

    • Strong hands-on experience with VMware Horizon, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), and Workspace-based VDI solutions.
    • Solid understanding of Windows desktop operating systems in virtualized environments.
    • Experience with profile management, image management, and session optimization.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills across VDI, networking, authentication, and endpoint integration.
    • Familiarity with incident management, change control, and root cause analysis (RCA).
    • Experience working with monitoring and logging tools supporting VDI platforms.

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • VMware Horizon or Microsoft AVD-related certifications.
    • Experience supporting VDI in regulated or security-sensitive environments.
    • Exposure to hybrid cloud desktop architectures.
    • Experience working in a global, follow-the-sun support model.

    Familiarity with ITIL-based operational processes.
