About this role
Designation: Associate Technical Leader
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate, evaluate, and implement cost reduction ideas for engine components and systems through VAVE initiatives.
- Capture requirements from component/idea owners and perform technical investigations and feasibility assessments.
- Develop concept designs in CREO and evaluate design feasibility for cost optimization opportunities.
- Support design-related issue resolution from engine assembly and identify value-add improvements.
- Optimize component and subsystem design, materials, and manufacturing processes to reduce product cost.
- Prepare business cases, cost proposals, and technical justifications for DTM approvals.
- Ensure timely delivery of assigned tasks in line with project schedules and commitments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across multiple locations to drive project execution.
- Support change management activities and engineering releases through PLM systems.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, Automobile Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in component design and detailing, preferably in heavy-duty diesel or gas engines.
- Strong understanding of engine systems, component functions, and engineering fundamentals.
- Experience in VAVE, NPD, APQP, GD&T, PPAP, tolerance stack-up, and change management processes.
- Proficiency in CREO for concept design and detailing.
- Working knowledge of SAP and Windchill PLM.
- Manufacturing process knowledge of casting, forging, and sheet metal components.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a global engineering environment.
- Preferred: Experience with VAVE projects, JIRA, engineering drawing interpretation, engine/system datasheets, and collaboration with German teams.
