Varicent Developer

We are looking for an experienced Varicent Developer with 5+ years of experience in Varicent Incentive Compensation Management / IBM SPM solutions. The candidate will be responsible for developing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting Varicent applications, reports, dashboards, data integrations, and related SPM solutions.

The role requires strong hands-on experience with Varicent v7 or above, database technologies, SQL/PL-SQL, data extraction and transformation, reporting, and application maintenance. The candidate should be comfortable understanding complex business requirements and translating them into scalable Varicent configurations and technical solutions.

The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:

Varicent Development and Configuration:

• Develop, configure, customise, and maintain solutions using Varicent (formerly IBM SPM) v7 and above.
• Create and modify calculations, views, data stores, and other Varicent components based on business requirements.
• Analyse functional requirements and translate them into technical designs and Varicent configurations.
• Develop solutions for complex incentive compensation and sales performance management requirements.
• Troubleshoot application issues and provide technical resolutions within agreed timelines.
• Perform enhancements, modifications, and maintenance activities for existing Varicent implementations.
• Support application upgrades, configuration changes, testing, and deployment activities.

SPM / Application Maintenance and Support:

• Work on Sales Performance Management (SPM) technologies and related application environments.
• Provide Application Maintenance Services (AMS), production support, and ongoing application maintenance.
• Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement appropriate fixes.
• Handle client-reported issues, change requests, and enhancement requirements.
• Work closely with business and technical teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Participate in incident management, problem management, and service-request resolution.

Reporting and Dashboard Development:

• Design and develop reports and dashboards based on business and client requirements.
• Create reports for different business roles, designations, and user groups.
• Modify existing reports based on changing business requirements.
• Ensure reports provide accurate, relevant, and consistent business information.
• Perform report testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Support web-based reporting portals, including data extraction, data loading, page creation, configuration, and testing.

Database and Data Integration:

• Write complex SQL queries for data extraction, validation, analysis, and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of database concepts, data structures, relationships, and data processing.
• Work with data from multiple database platforms, including: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Teradata.
• Perform data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading activities.
• Work with complex data structures and identify appropriate approaches for extracting and transforming data.
• Develop and maintain data integration processes supporting Varicent applications.
• Handle ad-hoc data change requests from clients while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Investigate data discrepancies and identify the underlying causes.

Data Validation and Quality:

• Develop and maintain structural data validation checks.
• Identify inconsistencies, missing data, and discrepancies across source and target systems.
• Perform data reconciliation and validation after data loads or system changes.
• Ensure data quality and consistency across integrated systems.
• Collaborate with technical and business teams to resolve data-related issues.

Web Reporting Portal:

• Develop and manage web-based reporting portals.
• Perform activities including:
• Data extraction
• Data loading
• Portal page creation
• Report configuration
• Functional testing
• Data validation
• Troubleshooting
• Support enhancements and maintenance of existing reporting portals.

Client and Stakeholder Management:

• Interact with clients to understand business requirements, issues, and change requests.
• Participate in requirement discussions and provide technical inputs.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and technical issues effectively.
• Work collaboratively with developers, business analysts, QA teams, database teams, and other stakeholders.

Requirements:

• 4-8 years of overall relevant IT experience, with strong hands-on experience in Varicent.
• 3-6 years of hands-on experience with Varicent / IBM SPM, preferably v7 and above.
• Strong understanding of Sales Performance Management (SPM) concepts and technologies.
• Experience in Varicent development, configuration, support, and maintenance.
• Hands-on experience with: Calculations, Views, Data Stores, Reporting, Dashboards, Data extraction, Data transformation, Data validation.
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of database concepts.
• Good knowledge of PL/SQL.
• Experience working with databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, and Teradata.
• Experience handling complex data structures and data integration requirements.
• Experience handling client-specific and ad-hoc data change requests.
• Experience developing and maintaining web reporting portals.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with SPM implementation and integration projects.
• Experience working on enterprise-scale Varicent implementations.
• Knowledge of application support and maintenance processes.
• Experience working with multiple data sources and integration platforms.
