Role & responsibilities

A reputed hospital is looking for an experienced Consultant Urologist with expertise in kidney transplantation to join its team. The candidate will be responsible for managing urological conditions, performing transplant-related surgical procedures, and providing comprehensive care to kidney transplant donors and recipients.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform kidney transplant surgeries, including donor nephrectomy and recipient transplantation, as per qualifications and clinical privileges.
• Evaluate and manage patients with urological disorders and kidney-related surgical conditions.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to kidney transplant donors and recipients.
• Manage transplant-related surgical complications and urological emergencies.
• Conduct OPD consultations and manage admitted patients.
• Perform routine and advanced urological procedures, including PCNL, URS, RIRS, TURP, and other relevant surgeries.
• Coordinate with nephrologists, anesthesiologists, intensivists, and other specialists for comprehensive patient care.
• Ensure proper clinical documentation and compliance with hospital protocols, transplant regulations, and ethical guidelines.
• Counsel patients and their families regarding treatment options, surgical procedures, and post-transplant care.

Qualifications

MBBS from a recognized medical institution.

MS/DNB in General Surgery, followed by MCh/DNB/DrNB in Urology, as applicable.

Valid medical registration with the relevant medical council.

Additional fellowship or specialized training in kidney transplantation is desirable.

Experience

Relevant experience in Urology and renal transplantation.

Hands-on experience in donor and recipient kidney transplant surgeries is preferred or mandatory, depending on the hospital's requirements.

Ability to independently manage transplant cases as per the role and clinical privileges.

Required Skills

Strong clinical and surgical expertise in Urology.

Experience in kidney transplant procedures and post-operative management.

Good decision-making and patient management skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary transplant team.

Excellent communication and patient counselling skills.
