Role & responsibilities

Job Summary

The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for implementing and monitoring infection prevention and control practices across the hospital to minimize healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), ensure patient and staff safety, and maintain compliance with hospital policies and applicable healthcare standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor infection prevention and control policies and protocols.
• Conduct surveillance for healthcare-associated infections and report findings.
• Monitor hand hygiene compliance, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and isolation precautions.
• Conduct regular infection control audits and ward inspections.
• Educate and train healthcare staff on infection prevention practices.
• Monitor biomedical waste segregation, handling, and disposal.
• Coordinate with clinical departments, housekeeping, laboratory, and nursing teams to prevent infection risks.
• Investigate infection outbreaks and support corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain infection control records, surveillance data, and audit reports.
• Monitor sterilization, disinfection, and environmental cleaning practices.
• Participate in infection control committee meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with hospital infection control policies, NABH requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines.

Preferred candidate profile

Experience:3 to 5 years of nursing experience, preferably in infection control or a hospital clinical setting.

• Knowledge of biomedical waste management and isolation protocols.
