Job Description-Risk Analyst

Seller Onboarding & Verification

Review and verify documentation (GST, PAN, business registration, bank details, KYC documents) during

onboarding.

Conduct due diligence checks on new sellers using internal tools and third-party verification services.

Flag incomplete, inconsistent, or suspicious documentation for further investigation.

Fraud & Risk Detection

Monitor seller activity patterns (listings, pricing, transaction behavior, communication patterns) to identify

anomalies indicating fraud, misrepresentation, or policy violations.

Investigate red flags such as duplicate identities, shell companies, fake addresses, mismatched bank details, or

collusion between buyer-seller accounts.

Use rule-based systems and risk-scoring models to triage high-risk seller profiles for manual review.

Identify and escalate cases of counterfeit products, misleading listings, or non-delivery complaints tied to specific

sellers.

Investigation & Case Management

Conduct end-to-end investigations on flagged accounts, including data analysis, background checks, and cross-

referencing with external databases (MCA, GST portal, credit bureaus, blacklists).

Document findings clearly and maintain case files for audit and legal purposes.

Recommend actions such as account suspension, additional verification, or blacklisting based on investigation

outcomes.

Process & Policy Improvement

Identify gaps or loopholes in the current onboarding/verification process and recommend process

improvements.

Work with Product and Engineering teams to build/improve fraud detection rules, automation, and risk-scoring

algorithms.

Stay updated on emerging fraud patterns, scams, and regulatory changes affecting B2B marketplaces.

Cross-functional Collaboration

Coordinate with Sales, Customer Support, Legal, and Compliance teams on escalated cases.

Provide regular reports and dashboards on fraud trends, risk metrics, and onboarding quality to leadership.

Support law enforcement or regulatory requests where required, in coordination with the legal team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (MBA/CA preferred for senior

roles).

25 years of experience in risk analysis, fraud investigation, KYC/AML, credit underwriting, or trust & safety

preferably in e-commerce, fin-tech, or marketplace platforms.

Strong understanding of Indian business documentation (GST, PAN, CIN, Udyam registration, bank verification

processes).

Analytical mindset with the ability to detect patterns and anomalies in large datasets.

Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; working knowledge of SQL or BI tools (Power BI/Tableau) is a plus.

Familiarity with fraud detection tools, CRM systems, or case management software.

Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting investigations and cross-team coordination.

High attention to detail and sound judgment under ambiguity.

Integrity and discretion when handling sensitive business and financial information.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in a B2B marketplace, classifieds platform, or lead-generation business.

Exposure to rule engines, risk-scoring models, or machine-learning-based fraud detection systems.

Knowledge of India's regulatory landscape around business verification and data privacy.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Reduction in fraudulent/fake seller onboarding rate.

Turnaround time for risk assessment and case resolution.

Accuracy of risk flags (false positive/negative rate).

Number of high-risk sellers identified and actioned proactively.

Buyer complaint rate tied to onboarded sellers.
