UK Bookkeeper

Key Functional Areas of Responsibility

• Maintain accurate books of accounts for a portfolio of UK clients, covering sales, purchases, receipts, and payments
• Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing, payment runs, and debtor follow-up
• Support quarterly VAT return preparation and reconciliation in line with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements
• Work across multiple cloud accounting platforms (Xero, QuickBooks Online, Free Agent, Sage) depending on client assignment
• Maintain client records, working papers, and job statuses within the Work Management System (WMS)
• Deliver assigned client work within agreed turnaround times (TAT) and quality standards
• Escalate unresolved queries or process issues to the Team Lead or Manager promptly

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as Xero, QuickBooks Online, or Sage, alongside receipt-processing tools like Dext.
• Technical Knowledge: 2+ years of relevant UK BK experience, preferably within an outsourcing or practice environment
• Communication: Clear written and verbal English communication skills for remote cross-border collaboration.
• Exposure: Prior exposure to multi-client, multi-software accounts preparation is highly desirable
