UAV Design & Validation Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a Design Engineer with 2+ years of experience in missile/aerospace technology with strong expertise in CAD design, structural analysis, CFD and FEA. The candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis, validation and development of missile subsystems, propulsion/motor assemblies, structural components, control systems and associated hardware.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in SOLIDWORKS, CATIA and ANSYS, with a strong understanding of mechanical design, aerospace structures, propulsion systems and engineering validation.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

- Design and development of missile system mechanical subsystems and associated components.

- Develop detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, manufacturing drawings and design documentation.

- Design and integration of motor/propulsion assemblies, structural frames, housings, interfaces and support structures.

- Perform structural design and validation of missile components considering mechanical and operational loads.

- Conduct FEA/FEM analysis for stress, strain, deformation, buckling, modal and thermal analysis.

- Perform CFD analysis for aerodynamic and thermal-flow-related applications.

- Support aerodynamic, structural and propulsion system integration.

- Design and analyze control-system mechanical interfaces, actuators, control surfaces and mounting structures.

- Perform design verification and validation through simulation, testing and correlation of analytical results with experimental data.

- Conduct design optimization for weight, strength, manufacturability and performance.

- Prepare engineering drawings, BOMs, technical reports and analysis documentation.

- Work closely with propulsion, avionics, GNC, manufacturing and testing teams for system integration.

- Support prototype development, fabrication, assembly and testing activities.

- Identify design issues and implement engineering solutions during development and testing.

- Perform tolerance analysis, material selection and DFM/DFA considerations.

- Maintain design configuration, revisions and technical documentation throughout the development cycle.

Required Technical Skills

CAD & Design

- Strong proficiency in SOLIDWORKS

- Working/proficient knowledge of CATIA V5

- 3D part modelling, surface modelling and complex assemblies

- Engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerancing and BOM generation

- Sheet metal, structural and mechanical component design

- Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA)

CAE / Analysis

- ANSYS Workbench / ANSYS Mechanical

- FEA: Static Structural, Modal, Buckling, Thermal and Transient analysis

- CFD: ANSYS Fluent

- Meshing and mesh-quality assessment

- Stress, strain, deformation and factor-of-safety evaluation

- Results interpretation and engineering optimization

Aerospace / Missile Domain

- Understanding of missile system architecture and subsystem integration

- Knowledge of rockets/motor propulsion assemblies

- Understanding of aerospace structures and lightweight design

- Familiarity with aerodynamic loads and thermal environments

- Understanding of control surfaces, actuators and mechanical interfaces

- Knowledge of propulsion-system structural integration and testing is desirable

Preferred Skills

- Experience with ANSYS SpaceClaim/Design Modeler and Meshing

- Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink or Python for engineering calculations and post-processing

- Knowledge of GD&T and ASME/ISO engineering drawing standards

- Experience with metallic and composite aerospace materials

- Understanding of vibration, shock and environmental qualification

- Experience with prototype fabrication and hardware testing

- Exposure to PLM/PDM and configuration management systems

Educational Qualification

B.Tech/B.E./M.Tech/M.E. in:

- Mechanical Engineering

- Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering

- Mechatronics

- Related engineering disciplines

Experience

Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in missile systems, aerospace, defence, propulsion, UAVs or high-performance mechanical systems.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The candidate should be capable of taking a component from concept CAD design simulation/analysis prototype testing design validation, while working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams. Strong hands-on experience in SOLIDWORKS/CATIA, ANSYS FEA and CFD and practical exposure to missile or aerospace hardware development will be highly preferred.
