Turning and Milling 3D Programmer

Role & responsibilities:

1. Study engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and technical specifications before programming.
2. Develop 3D CNC programs for 3-Axis and 4-axis turn-mill machines using suitable CAD/CAM software.
3. Prepare machining strategies for turning, facing, profiling, boring, drilling, milling, and tapping operations as supported by the machine.
4. Create tool paths involving linear and rotary axes according to the machine configuration.
5. Plan multi-face machining operations to minimize repeated setups and improve component accuracy.
6. Select suitable cutting tools, tool holders, fixtures, cutting parameters, and machining sequences.
7. Generate machine-compatible CNC programs using the appropriate postprocessor.
8. Perform 3D tool-path simulation to check tool collisions, workpiece interference, fixture clearance, and machining errors.
9. Verify rotary-axis movements and workpiece orientations before releasing programs for production.
10. Coordinate with machine operators during setup, program proving, and first-piece inspection.
11. Troubleshoot complex tool-path and machining issues and implement corrective actions.
12. Optimize machining strategies to improve productivity, tool life, and surface finish.
13. Ensure components meet drawing specifications, dimensional tolerances, and customer quality requirements.
14. Maintain CAD models, CAM files, CNC programs, setup sheets, and revision-controlled documentation.
15. Coordinate with production and quality teams to reduce rejection, rework, and machining time.
16. Follow company quality procedures, machine safety requirements, and continuous improvement practices.
