Transformer Testing Engineer

Role Description The Transformer Testing Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position located in Sriperumbudur. The engineer will perform routine and type tests on dry type and VPI transformers, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, customer specifications, and internal quality requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and executing test plans, setting up test equipment, monitoring test parameters, recording results, and analyzing data for performance and safety. The role also involves troubleshooting test failures, coordinating with design, production, and quality teams to resolve issues, and preparing clear technical test reports and documentation. The engineer will support continuous improvement of testing procedures, maintain test instruments and safety practices, and assist during customer inspections or third-party audits when required.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Test Engineering, including understanding of transformer test methods, standards, and test bench setup.
• Hands-on experience in Test Execution, including preparing test setups, operating test equipment, and documenting results.
• Ability to define, review, and maintain Test Cases and test procedures for various transformer ratings and configurations.
• Experience in general Testing and quality control in an electrical or power equipment environment.
• Knowledge of Functional Testing of transformers, including routine, type, and special tests as per IEC/IS or equivalent standards.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Familiarity with high-voltage safety practices and power systems fundamentals.
• Proficiency in using test instruments, data acquisition systems, and basic MS Office tools for reporting.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret electrical drawings and test specifications.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams on the shop floor.
• Previous experience in transformer manufacturing or power equipment testing is preferred.
