    About this role

    About The Company

GE Vernova is a leading global energy company dedicated to providing innovative and sustainable energy solutions. As part of the General Electric family, GE Vernova focuses on advancing technology in power generation, renewable energy, and grid modernization. The company is committed to driving the energy transition by delivering reliable, efficient, and environmentally responsible energy systems. With a strong emphasis on innovation, safety, and customer satisfaction, GE Vernova operates across multiple regions, supporting a diverse portfolio of energy projects worldwide. The organization fosters a collaborative and inclusive culture that encourages continuous learning, technological advancement, and operational excellence.

    About The Role

The Lead Engineer in the Aero-Thermal Clearances Design & Systems (ATCDS) team will play a pivotal role in executing thermal design and analysis activities for turbomachinery hardware within GE Vernova's gas power portfolio. This position involves supporting the entire product lifecycle, including New Product Introduction (NPI), New Technology Introduction (NTI), testing, validation, and field support. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in heat transfer, secondary flow systems, and thermal analysis, enabling them to independently manage complex projects from concept through to detailed design and review stages. The role requires strong analytical judgment, technical ownership, and the ability to collaborate effectively with global cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality outcomes. The successful candidate will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging Lean principles, innovative analytical techniques, and advanced digital tools to optimize thermal systems and enhance product performance.

    Qualifications

The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, with specialization in Thermal Science, Thermal and Fluid Engineering, or Heat Transfer analysis, complemented by a strong academic record. A minimum of 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in heat transfer, secondary flow analysis, or thermal design for turbomachinery is required. Preferred qualifications include a Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with similar specialization, demonstrating advanced knowledge and research capabilities in thermal systems. Experience with engineering simulation tools such as ANSYS Thermal, HyperModel, HyperWorks, CFX, ICEM CFD, or similar platforms is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of working effectively within global matrix organizations. Familiarity with programming and scripting languages like Python, Fortran, Visual Basic, or Java for automation and analysis is advantageous. Additionally, experience evaluating AI/ML strategies for long-term system improvements and applying Lean tools to streamline processes will set candidates apart.

    Responsibilities

The Lead Engineer will be responsible for independently executing heat transfer, secondary flow, and thermal analysis activities across a range of turbomachinery components, including flange-to-flange stationary and rotating parts. This involves applying sound engineering principles while adhering to business standards, design practices, procedures, and product requirements. The role demands developing deep technical expertise in thermal design, enabling the engineer to independently solve complex design and analysis challenges with a sense of urgency and technical rigor. The engineer will manage work across various design phases—conceptual, preliminary, and detailed—while increasing ownership and autonomy over time.

Key responsibilities include building, assessing, and improving thermal analysis models, interpreting results, and preparing comprehensive design review materials with clear conclusions and actionable recommendations. The engineer will evaluate design trade-offs, identify risks, and propose innovative solutions beyond conventional methods when necessary. Contributing to design improvements, root cause analysis, and technical problem-solving related to thermal performance are integral to this role. The engineer will also identify and evaluate design-to-cost opportunities, balancing performance, durability, and manufacturing costs in collaboration with mechanical, systems, and services teams.

Collaboration is essential; the engineer will work closely with global teams—including mechanical, aerodynamic, performance, and clearance engineering—to deliver integrated design solutions. Demonstrating innovation in thermal design practices, including the use of probabilistic methods, digital tools, automation, and AI/ML techniques, is encouraged. The role also involves documenting technical data, analysis results, assumptions, and conclusions accurately, ensuring traceability and compliance with established design templates and practices. Applying Lean principles to daily work, improving standard work, and contributing to process enhancements will be key to driving efficiency and quality improvement.

    Benefits

GE Vernova offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the well-being and professional growth of its employees.
