Job Description HVAC Engineer (R&D / Product Benchmarking)

Job Responsibilities

• Hands-on assembly and disassembly of HVAC units, Air Conditioners, Chillers, Deep Freezers, and Home Appliances.
• Perform complete product teardown at system, sub-system, assembly, and component levels.
• Conduct static benchmarking of competitive HVAC products, including feature analysis, dimensions, weight, material specifications, and supplier details.
• Plan and execute competitive product teardown activities, including product availability, workspace, tools, manpower, and timelines.
• Prepare detailed BOMs at assembly, sub-assembly, and part levels and align with in-house BOM.
• Capture photographs, component details, measurements, and maintain proper storage of dismantled parts.
• Perform product validation, functional testing, troubleshooting, and component-level analysis.
• Support reverse engineering, 3D scanning, prototype development, and fitment verification.
• Identify cost reduction and product improvement opportunities through VAVE activities.
• Prepare benchmarking reports, teardown reports, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with R&D, Design, Quality, Manufacturing, and Sourcing teams.

Desired Candidate Profile

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Hands-on experience in HVAC assembly, disassembly, and product teardown.
• Knowledge of Air Conditioning, Refrigeration Systems, Chillers, Deep Freezers, and Home Appliances.
• Understanding of compressors, condensers, evaporators, heat exchangers, fans, motors, and refrigeration cycles.
• Experience in Competitive Benchmarking, BOM Preparation, Reverse Engineering, and Product Validation.
• Knowledge of dimensional measurement tools, 3D Scanning, and Prototype Development.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, planning, reporting, and coordination skills.
• Knowledge of VAVE and product cost optimization.
