Most cases are refills, dose reviews, tolerability checks and short follow-ups on an existing urology plan. Your job is to confirm the patient is stable on their current regimen, screen for red flags, and continue, adjust or refer as clinically appropriate.

This is not a new-patient work-up role and it is not a transactional refill counter. Specialist judgment is expected on every case.

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Review the patient's existing urology prescription, dose, duration on therapy and prescribing urologist's notes (where available) before speaking.
    • Confirm ongoing symptom control LUTS pattern, urgency/frequency, nocturia, flow, incontinence episodes, stone-pain recurrence, post-op recovery as relevant to the drug in use.
    • Check tolerability and side-effects specific to the drug class (orthostatic symptoms on alpha-blockers, sexual side-effects on 5-ARIs, dry mouth / constipation on anticholinergics, cognitive effects in the elderly, etc.).
    • Verify latest relevant investigations where the therapy demands it PSA trend on 5-ARI, renal function on any nephrotoxic combination, urine culture history on recurrent-UTI prophylaxis, post-void residual context, etc.
    • Continue, adjust, taper, switch or stop the urology medication based on clinical judgment and refuse to refill when the case is unsafe or incomplete.
    • Screen for urology red flags on every call gross haematuria, acute retention, febrile UTI / suspected pyelonephritis, uncontrolled stone pain, suspected malignancy signals — and escalate to in-person urology care immediately.
    • Counsel the patient on correct dosing, timing, expected effect, warning signs, and when to seek in-person review.
    • Document every consultation completely before closing the case.

    Clinical Profile Required:

    Qualification

    • MCh Urology or DNB Urology (mandatory).
    • Valid registration with State Medical Council / NMC.
    • Post-qualification clinical experience preferred; fresh super-specialists welcome.

    Clinical Approach Expected

    • Comfort managing patients already on chronic urology therapy BPH, OAB, recurrent UTI, stone disease follow-up, post-op urology, ED / LUTS combinations.
    • Willingness to keep consultations focused and time-efficient (2–5 min) without cutting clinical corners.
    • Strong red-flag recognition and low threshold to escalate to in-person urology.
    • Clear, empathetic patient communication in the languages you register for.

    Documentation Standard

    • Every consultation gets a written record complaint, current therapy, findings, decision, follow-up.
    • Any refusal to prescribe or escalation to in-person care must be documented with the reason.
    • All documentation is completed before the consultation is closed.

    Expected Consultation Length

    • Standard refill / stable follow-up on an existing urology regimen: 2–5 minutes.
    • Case with new symptoms, side-effects, or investigation review: extend as clinically required — quality over speed.

    Daily Volume

    • Typical operating range on a full shift: 40-50 urology consultations.
    • High-throughput days with clean records and pure refills: up to 40 consultations.
    • Slow down for any case where the history is incomplete or red flags are present.
