Technical Operations Engineer

Position Summary

The TechOps Engineer will be responsible for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and post-deployment support of Industry 4.0 solutions at customer facilities. The role requires extensive travel, customer interaction, technical problem-solving, and basic software development capabilities.

The ideal candidate combines industrial automation knowledge with field execution skills and a strong willingness to work at manufacturing plants across India and internationally when required.

Key Responsibilities

Project Installation & Commissioning

• Install and commission Industry 4.0 hardware and software solutions at customer sites.
• Deploy Industrial IoT gateways, sensors, edge devices, networking equipment, and data acquisition systems.
• Configure machine connectivity with PLCs, CNCs, robots, and industrial controllers.
• Perform FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test).
• Execute commissioning checklists and project documentation.

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and machine communication issues.
• Support customers during production ramp-up after deployment.
• Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with engineering teams for issue resolution.
• Provide remote and onsite support.

Automation & Connectivity

• Interface with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, robots, barcode scanners, sensors, vision systems, RFID systems, and industrial networks.
• Work with protocols such as:
• Modbus TCP/RTU
• OPC-UA
• Ethernet/IP
• Profinet
• MQTT
• TCP/IP

Software & Coding Support

• Perform basic coding, scripting, and debugging activities.
• Configure APIs and data integrations.
• Support database troubleshooting and data validation.
• Assist development teams during deployment and testing.

Customer Engagement

• Conduct operator and maintenance training sessions.
• Prepare technical reports and deployment documentation.
• Provide regular project status updates.
• Build strong customer relationships during project execution.

Continuous Improvement

• Capture field learnings and contribute to standard operating procedures.
• Support product improvement initiatives.
• Participate in internal technical training programs.

Required Technical Skills

Must Have

• Basic understanding of PLCs and industrial automation.
• Knowledge of electrical control panels and field instrumentation.
• Understanding of industrial networking fundamentals.
• Ability to read electrical and automation drawings.
• Basic troubleshooting of hardware and software systems.
• Good communication skills.

Preferred

• PLC exposure: Siemens, Mitsubishi Electric, Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric
• SCADA/HMI systems.
• SQL basics.
• Python basics.
• JavaScript basics.
• Linux fundamentals.
• Cloud platforms exposure.
• Industrial IoT and Industry 4.0 concepts.

Travel Requirements

• Willingness to travel 60-80% of the time.
• Ability to stay at customer locations for project execution.
• Short-notice travel readiness.
• Valid driving license preferred.
• Passport preferred for international assignments.
