Technical Team Lead / Engineering Lead — Java & Python to join our client’s team. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who can guide engineering teams, own delivery, contribute to architecture, and remain close to the code across backend services, enterprise applications, APIs, integrations, and scalable data-driven systems.
Responsibilities • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing technical direction, delivery oversight, and hands-on engineering support • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and enterprise applications using Java and/or Python • Build and support backend systems using Java, Spring/Spring MVC, Python, and modern backend frameworks • Own technical design decisions, system architecture discussions, code quality, and engineering best practices • Work closely with senior business, product, and technology stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable technical solutions • Build, consume, and integrate RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, backend systems, and data sources • Support event-driven and distributed systems using tools such as Kafka or similar messaging technologies • Execute the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from design and development to testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support • Ensure applications and services are scalable, secure, reliable, performant, and maintainable • Lead troubleshooting, debugging, root-cause analysis, and enhancement of existing systems and services • Support CI/CD pipelines, observability, monitoring, and production-readiness standards • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, product, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders • Develop and maintain software documentation, technical specifications, and architecture-related materials • Drive continuous improvement, technical debt reduction, and adoption of engineering best practices
Requirements • 9+ years of overall software engineering experience, with strong hands-on backend development experience • Previous experience as a Technical Lead, Team Lead, Engineering Lead, or hands-on Lead Engineer • Strong experience in Java development, including Spring / Spring MVC / Spring Boot or similar frameworks • Strong experience building backend services, APIs, and enterprise-grade applications using Python and/or Java • Experience leading engineering teams, mentoring developers, reviewing code, and owning technical delivery • Strong understanding of system design, scalable architecture, distributed systems, and production-grade engineering • Experience with REST APIs, GraphQL, and backend integrations • Experience with Kafka or similar messaging/event-driven technologies • Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, or similar • Experience with CI/CD, Git, Jenkins/GitHub Actions, JIRA, and modern software engineering workflows • Strong understanding of Agile, Lean, and DevOps principles • Experience with observability, monitoring, logging, debugging, and production support • Ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders and cross-functional technology teams • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to document technical requirements, architecture decisions, and implementation details • Proficiency with software engineering tools, development standards, and best practices • Comfortable staying hands-on while also guiding the team technically and supporting delivery execution
Good to have • Experience with Angular or other modern frontend frameworks • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP • Experience with AI coding assistants or AI-enabled development workflows • Understanding of ML model integration or API-based AI service consumption • Experience working on data services, financial systems, enterprise platforms, or complex workflow-based applications This is a
12-month contract for one of our clients, with potential conversion to a full-time employee after 12 months. The role is
onsite in Bangalore, India , and compensation will be paid monthly in USD. At
