Job Summary:
The BI Developer is responsible for designing and building analytical data models, SQL transformations, and trusted datasets across various platforms including Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Delta Lake, and BigQuery. This role supports enterprise dashboards and analytics by ensuring high-quality, performant, and consistent data across platforms. The position requires strong SQL expertise, BI-oriented data modeling, and a disciplined approach to data quality, validation, and cross-platform alignment.

This role supports enterprise dashboards and analytics by ensuring high-quality, performant, and consistent data across platforms. The position requires strong SQL expertise, BI-oriented data modeling, and a disciplined approach to data quality, validation, and cross-platform alignment.
Responsibilities:
- Data Engineering SQL Development:
Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL transformations and pipelines. Perform data exploration, preparation, and transformation using SQL. Build optimized, reusable SQL logic supporting analytical datasets and semantic data models. Develop ad-hoc and production SQL queries to support BI, analytics, and business stakeholders. - Data Quality, Validation Issue Resolution:
Validate end-to-end data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across analytical datasets. Investigate and resolve data discrepancies. Troubleshoot issues related to data ingestion, transformation logic, schema changes, and pipeline failures. Ensure datasets feeding enterprise dashboards meet quality and governance standards. - GCP BigQuery Responsibilities:
Build and maintain analytical datasets, transformation logic, and validation routines in BigQuery. Optimize BigQuery SQL workloads for performance and cost efficiency. Ensure alignment and reconciliation of datasets between platforms. Support dataset interoperability and migration between BigQuery and the enterprise data lake. - BI Data Modeling Enablement:
Collaborate with BI developers and analysts to design scalable dimensional and star-schema data models. Ensure curated datasets follow best practices for downstream BI performance and usability. Support semantic models and incremental data pipelines used by enterprise dashboards. - Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Data Lake, cloud, BI, and analytics teams to deliver high-quality, trusted data assets. Provide technical support and troubleshooting across data, cloud, and BI layers. - Operational Responsibilities:
Prepare periodic data quality and validation insights for governance and review forums. Maintain clean, well-documented datasets powering enterprise BI and analytics. Identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and continuous improvement across data pipelines.
Mandatory Skills:
- 8-10 years of hands-on experience in BI / Analytics / Data Engineering roles supporting enterprise analytics.
- Strong expertise in SQL, including complex transformations, joins, window functions, and performance tuning.
- Proven experience working with Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Delta Lake, and BigQuery.
- Solid understanding of BI-oriented data modeling, including dimensional and star schema design.
- Experience building and maintaining curated analytical datasets and trusted data layers.
- Strong background in Data Quality validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution across platforms.
- Experience troubleshooting data ingestion, transformation logic, schema changes, and pipeline failures.
- Hands-on experience supporting enterprise dashboards and BI consumption layers.
- Familiarity with cross-platform data alignment and reconciliation between data lake, warehouse, and BI layers.
- Experience working in cloud-based analytics environments (Azure and/or GCP).
- Strong collaboration skills with data engineers, BI developers, cloud teams, and business stakeholders.
- Ability to produce well-documented, auditable datasets and logic for governance and review.
- Data Governance: This is a deal-breaker skill.
Preferred Skills:
- Exposure to Power BI / Data Modelling and understanding of downstream BI performance considerations.
- Experience with Pipelines, optimization, and modernization of data pipelines.
- Familiarity with Governance Framework Design and enterprise quality standards.
- Experience supporting large-scale, multi-region analytics platforms.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications in data analytics or cloud technologies are a plus.
