    About this role

Role: Technical Lead Architecture and Engineering

Lead engineering remotely, from anywhere in India. You'd work with a founder in Canada and a team of eight across Mumbai, Nagpur, Delhi and Gujarat, building for a client-partner in Mexico and a design-partner manufacturer in the UK.

We focus on products: a property and booking platform growing from single-host to multi-host, with a rules engine and financial ledger built in; a platform that structures meaning into encoded data and rules and generates applications from them; and an intent-based learning application built with a UK manufacturer.

    The role

Were looking for you to lead engineering architecture and delivery: leading the delivery team that builds our client-partner’s booking platform, carrying forward the learning application we built with a UK manufacturer, building Neutral Advocate’s platforms with the founder, and shaping engineering’s contribution and direction.

    Responsibility through collaboration

    • Engineering architecture across our products: a Java/Spring backend with PostgreSQL and AWS on the booking platform, and a Python and Flutter stack on the generation platform
    • Technical delivery on the booking platform: moving from single-host to multi-property and multi-host, with a rules engine and financial ledger being built into it
    • Engineering direction for the generation platform: ontologies, graph and a design-system layer that resolves design-to-code deterministically
    • Leading the delivery team: reviews and how the work gets done
    • Production: deployment, monitoring, incident response and the practices around them
    • Standards and AI in engineering: the standards we build to, where AI is trusted, what gets reviewed, and how the team builds without accumulating debt.

    What you'd bring

These you're open to and intense about:

    • Youre always learning. The work and the world keep changing, so learning isn't a phase it's a constant.
    • You help solve complex problems by modelling what things are, working out their boundaries and how they integrate into the world you're building.
    • You communicate clearly in whatever form moves the work forward: a well-framed question, or a structured asset like a plan or a design.
    • You build with AI as everyday practice, and you hold a clear position on how. Testing is central to it, and the quality of the code is validated, controlled and high.
    • You lead by serving. You create a safe space for people to learn, clear what's in their way, and step in where they're not ready yet, until they are. The measure is whether the people around you grow.
    • As a leader, you let your thinking be seen: you share what's known and what's not, and you welcome challenge. When you challenge others, you start by understanding the thinking behind their work.

    These you'll already have:

    • You've run production systems and lived with them, not just built them.
    • You have backend depth, including real-time, scheduled, asynchronous and event-driven work, with enough frontend understanding to design across both.
    • You have technical depth in a group of these: Java/Spring, Python and FastAPI, Node.js, PostgreSQL, AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, ECS), graph databases, Flutter.

    How we work

We don't expect you to have every answer when you start. That means admitting when you don't know, and being led by whoever holds the knowledge. Even when you know, the better move is often a question with a direction in mind, then a discussion if you disagree with where it lands. Sometimes the direct answer is what's needed. We make decisions from data and conversation, not opinion.

Our client work comes first. On the booking platform, you lead the delivery team from the start: the architecture, the reviews, the releases, and the production system our client-partners business runs on. Youd work directly with the client-partner on what gets built next, including the evening calls. The learning application we built with a UK manufacturer is client work too, and you’d carry its engineering forward.

Alongside that, we build our own products together. I’ve largely built them so far, and I’m looking for someone to take that engineering forward with me: explore a concept, build it, see it, iterate. With AI, that cycle is about the speed of learning, not delivery, and how we develop our products keeps evolving. You’d help shape it with me. I’ll be in that conversation while we build trust in each other’s judgement, and it becomes yours over time, as trust and the business both allow.

If you want a workplace where direction comes down a chain, this isn't one.

    Terms

    • Permanent role, remote from anywhere in India
    • Team hours are 10am7pm IST, on a flexible schedule. Take time when you need it, and make it up.
    • Client calls run in the evening, 9:3011pm IST, once or twice a week.
    • 32 days a year: 12 company and festival holidays, four of them festivals you choose, plus 20 flexible days for vacation, personal needs or illness. Serious illness is reviewed individually.
    • 1822.5 LPA
    • Start date flexible; we'll work around your notice period.
    • For women applicants: we have policies focused on you. Ask us about them.

    Applying

The screening questions are deep. Naukri only allows short answers, which is good enough for now. One-line answers will be rejected. If were interested, well ask you for more detailed answers later.

The final stage is a short, paid collaborative project: you plan it, then build it. We see how we work together, and so do you.
