Technical Analyst To MD

Position Summary

We are looking for a technically qualified and analytically strong professional to work closely with the Managing Director on technical, operational, manufacturing, engineering, R&D and strategic business matters.

The incumbent will act as a technical interface and analytical support to the Managing Director, providing data-driven insights, technical assessments, project reviews, business analysis and recommendations related to manufacturing operations, engineering initiatives, technology, product development and process improvement.

The role requires a combination of strong technical fundamentals, analytical capability, business acumen, problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills.

Educational Qualification

• B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgy / Metallurgical Engineering
• Candidates with relevant postgraduate qualifications in Engineering, Technology, Operations or Management will be preferred.
• Strong academic background with good analytical and numerical ability.

Experience

• 5–10 years of relevant experience in:
• Manufacturing
• Engineering
• R&D / Product Development
• Technical Projects
• Operations / Manufacturing Excellence
• Process Engineering
• Industrial Engineering
• Experience in Aluminium / Metals / Engineering / Automotive / Capital Equipment / Process Manufacturing will be an advantage.
• Candidates currently working in technical, engineering, manufacturing, R&D, consulting or management support roles may be considered.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical & Management Support

• Work closely with the Managing Director on technical, manufacturing, engineering and operational matters.
• Understand complex technical issues and provide concise analysis and recommendations.
• Prepare technical briefs, management notes, presentations and decision-support documents.
• Support the MD in evaluating technical proposals, projects and strategic initiatives.

2. Manufacturing & Operations Analysis

• Review manufacturing performance, productivity, capacity utilisation, yield, quality, cost and operational efficiency.
• Analyse plant performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Study production and operational data and highlight key trends, deviations and improvement opportunities.
• Support review of major manufacturing and engineering projects.

3. Engineering & Technical Projects

• Evaluate engineering proposals, technology initiatives, plant modifications and capital expenditure projects.
• Review project feasibility, technical specifications, timelines, costs and expected benefits.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Projects, Production, Maintenance, Quality and R&D teams for technical inputs.
• Track progress of critical technical projects and provide periodic updates to the MD.

4. R&D / Technology Evaluation

• Support evaluation of new technologies, processes, products and manufacturing methodologies.
• Conduct technical benchmarking and comparative analysis.
• Assist in evaluating opportunities for process optimisation, automation, digitalisation and technology upgrades.
• Review R&D initiatives and assess their commercial and operational relevance.

5. Data Analysis & MIS

• Analyse operational, technical and business data to identify trends and opportunities.
• Develop management dashboards, MIS reports and analytical presentations.
• Convert complex technical information into clear and actionable management insights.
• Monitor key performance indicators and prepare periodic review reports.

6. Strategic & Business Analysis

• Conduct research and analysis on manufacturing technologies, industry developments, competitors and market trends.
• Support the MD in evaluating new business opportunities, investments and strategic initiatives.
• Prepare business cases, feasibility assessments and management presentations.
• Assist in cross-functional projects requiring technical and commercial evaluation.

7. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Coordinate with senior leadership and functional heads to collect, validate and analyse information.
• Follow up on key action points arising from MD reviews and management meetings.
• Ensure timely closure and reporting of critical initiatives.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive business and management information.
