Team Member Rural Underwriting

Roles and Responsibilities 

To support underwriting operations for Rural Insurance business with a primary focus on Cattle & Livestock Insurance . The incumbent will be responsible for risk assessment, underwriting, claim evaluation, policy issuance support, and portfolio monitoring to ensure sustainable and profitable growth of the livestock insurance business.

Key Responsibilities :

Underwriting & Risk Assessment
• Evaluate proposals for Cattle and Livestock Insurance based on underwriting guidelines.
• Assess animal health, breed characteristics, productivity parameters, and risk exposure.
• Review veterinary reports, valuation certificates, and supporting documents for policy acceptance.
• Recommend risk mitigation measures and appropriate premium rates.
Claims Management (Mandatory Expertise)
• Handle end-to-end Cattle & Livestock Insurance claims.
• Scrutinize claim documents, veterinary certificates, post-mortem reports, and investigation reports.
• Coordinate with surveyors, veterinarians, field teams, and policyholders for claim assessment.
• Ensure timely and accurate settlement of claims within prescribed TAT.
• Monitor claim trends and suggest corrective actions to improve portfolio profitability.
Portfolio & Business Support
• Support branch and sales teams on livestock insurance products and underwriting requirements.
• Analyze portfolio performance, loss ratios, and claims experience.
• Maintain underwriting discipline and compliance with company guidelines.
• Assist in product improvements and process enhancements for rural insurance business.
Stakeholder Management
• Coordinate with field teams, veterinary professionals, surveyors, and channel partners.
• Provide technical guidance related to livestock health, disease risks, and insurance coverage.
• Support training initiatives for internal and external stakeholders.
Desired Skills & Competencies
• Strong knowledge of Cattle and Livestock Insurance underwriting practices.
• Hands-on experience in Livestock Insurance Claims Management.
• Understanding of animal diseases, breeding practices, dairy operations, and livestock valuation.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, underwriting systems, and report preparation.
Preferred Candidate Profile
• 2-3 years of experience in Rural Insurance, Livestock Insurance.
• Experience in underwriting and claims handling of cattle/livestock insurance products is mandatory with BVsc & AH
• Candidates who have worked on projects with National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) will be given preference.
• Exposure to dairy sector initiatives, livestock development programs, and rural risk assessment will be an added advantage.
