Position: US Taxation Senior Accountant / Specialist / Tax Chat Expert

Location: Hyderabad

Shift: US Shift / Primarily EST Hours

About the Role

We are looking for experienced US Taxation professionals to join our US Operations team in Hyderabad. The roles involve working on US Individual Taxation, including preparation, review, quality control, and/or live customer support through chat-based Expert Assist processes.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with U.S. Individual Income Tax Returns, particularly Forms 1040, 1040-NR, and 1040-SR, along with a good understanding of federal and state tax regulations. Depending on experience and role alignment, candidates may be considered for Senior Accountant, Specialist, or Tax Chat Expert positions.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, review, and analyze U.S. individual income tax returns, primarily Forms 1040, 1040-NR, and 1040-SR.

- Ensure tax returns are accurate, complete, and compliant with applicable U.S. federal and state tax regulations.

- Handle multistate individual tax returns, where applicable.

- Identify, document, and resolve discrepancies in tax returns, supporting documents, and workpapers.

- Follow client/CPA-firm-specific review checklists, documentation standards, and engagement protocols.

- Perform quality-control reviews and provide appropriate feedback/recommendations to preparers and junior team members.

- For Expert Assist/Live Chat roles, provide accurate, timely, and professional tax assistance to customers through real-time chat.

- Explain technical tax concepts in simple, clear, and jargon-free language.

- Aim for first-contact resolution while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and customer-service standards.

- Document key discussion points, findings, and outcomes for future reference.

- Coordinate effectively with U.S.-based CPA partners, managers, reviewers, customers, and internal teams.

- Work effectively under strict deadlines and during peak U.S. tax season.

- Maintain high standards of accuracy, productivity, compliance, and service quality.

Desired Skills & Experience

- 2Y 5M+ years of hands-on experience in U.S. Individual Taxation for Senior Accountant-level roles.

- 4–5+ years of relevant experience for Specialist / Tax Chat Expert-level roles.

- Strong hands-on experience with Form 1040, 1040-NR, and 1040-SR.

- Experience in U.S. individual tax preparation and/or review.

- Knowledge of multistate individual tax returns is an advantage.

- Experience with tax software such as ProConnect, ProSystem, Lacerte, UltraTax, CCH, Drake, Intuit, or similar platforms.

- For Tax Chat / Expert Assist roles, experience in US Tax Live / Expert Assist / tax chat support is an advantage.

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.

- MBA in Accounting & Finance is preferred.

- Professional Certifications – Added Advantage
