Tax Auditor

We are looking for Tax Auditors to join our team.

Summary of Job:

As an Internal Auditor specializing in Tax, GST and Compliance Audits, you will be responsible for conducting systematic and detailed audits to assess the effectiveness of financial controls, tax compliance, statutory compliance and organizational processes. The role will involve identifying compliance gaps, financial risks and process loopholes, and providing practical recommendations to strengthen internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop audit scope, audit plans and checklists covering Tax, GST, statutory and process compliance.
• Conduct internal audits of Institutes, Schools and various departments across the organization.
• Review GST compliance, including GST returns, Input Tax Credit, reconciliations, vendor compliance and applicable GST provisions.
• Review TDS and other direct/indirect tax compliances and identify potential risks or discrepancies.
• Conduct compliance audits covering applicable Tax Laws, GST provisions and other relevant statutory requirements.
• Examine and analyze accounting records, invoices, supporting documents and financial transactions.
• Verify compliance with internal policies, procedures, delegated authorities and established controls.
• Identify control weaknesses, compliance gaps, financial leakages and potential areas of risk.
• Prepare detailed audit observations, working papers and reports, along with practical recommendations.
• Discuss audit findings with concerned stakeholders and track corrective actions.
• Conduct follow-up audits to assess implementation and effectiveness of corrective measures.
• Monitor closure of audit observations and maintain proper documentation of audit findings.
• Support Management in strengthening internal controls, compliance processes and risk mitigation mechanisms.
• Open to travelling to Institutes and Schools across India, as required.

Job Knowledge (Prerequisite):

• Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, Income Tax and applicable tax / statutory compliances.
• Sound understanding of accounting principles, auditing procedures and internal controls.
• Hands-on experience in Tax / GST / Compliance Audit.
• Experience in audit of educational institutions, schools or multi-location organizations will be an advantage.
• Good understanding of audit documentation, working papers and report preparation.
• Strong analytical ability to identify discrepancies, risks and control gaps.

• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret financial and compliance data.
• Good working knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to travel to different locations as required.

Education Qualification:

• CA / Semi-Qualified CA / CA Dropout.
• Candidates with relevant qualifications in Finance / Accounts / Taxation / Commerce may also be considered based on relevant experience.

Experience:

• 4-8 years of relevant experience in Internal Audit / Tax Audit / GST Audit / Compliance Audit.
• Candidates with strong hands-on experience in GST, Tax, and Compliance Audits will be preferred.
