The role covers curricular PE periods, after-school practice, inter-school tournaments and intra-school events. The person in this role is expected to maintain high standards of student safety, skill progression and sporting conduct at all times.
Key Responsibilities:-
- Plan and deliver grade-appropriate lesson plans for curricular PE periods and sport-specific coaching sessions, covering warm-up, skill instruction, drills, match play and cool-down.
- Assess and record individual student progress against defined skill benchmarks for each grade band, and share progress updates with class teachers and coordinators on a scheduled basis.
- Organise and supervise intra-school competitions, inter-house events and preparation camps for inter-school and district-level tournaments.
- Administer prompt and correct first-aid response to injuries during practice or matches, follow the school's injury-reporting protocol, and coordinate handover to the medical or administrative team without delay.
- Maintain all sports equipment, store inventory and facility usage logs; raise requisitions for replacements or repairs through the designated process.
- Conduct sessions across whichever infrastructure is available at the assigned branch full courts, open fields or multi-use areas and adapt drills and session structure accordingly.
- Attend early-morning sessions (from 7 am), after-school practice blocks, Saturday sessions and tournament weekends as per the academic calendar and fixtures schedule.
- Travel between branches as required using personal two-wheeler transport, and deliver sessions at each location to the same standard.
- Collaborate with the Sports Coordinator to design the annual sports calendar, set training goals for student athletes and review outcomes after each competition cycle.
- Model and enforce fair play, respect for opponents and adherence to sport rules in every session and competitive fixture.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree (non-technical discipline) is the minimum academic qualification.
- Freshers are eligible to apply; prior coaching or playing experience is an advantage but is not mandatory.
- A sport-specific credential is strongly preferred: examples include an AIFF coaching licence (any level), an NIS Diploma or Certificate in the relevant sport, a recognised belt rank in Taekwondo, a certified skating instructor qualification, or a verifiable record of competitive participation and coaching at club, district or state level. Candidates must be able to name the credential and the year it was obtained or the level at which they competed.
- Working knowledge of the rules of the assigned sport, standard safety protocols and correct first-aid procedure for common sports injuries (including the protocol for suspected fractures and concussions).
- Possession of a personal two-wheeler and willingness to travel between branches as directed.
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to structure a complete 40-minute coaching session from warm-up through skill instruction to structured play and close for students across a range of grades, including complete beginners in grades 15.
- Clear verbal communication in the language of instruction used at the branch; fluency in English, spoken and written, is required for documentation and reporting.
- Ability to adapt session plans and drills to the available infrastructure, including open grounds, non-standard courts and shared multi-use spaces.
- Competence in recognising injury risk during play, applying correct first-aid and following escalation protocols without moving or manipulating a suspected fracture.
- Record-keeping and basic reporting skills sufficient to maintain attendance registers, equipment logs and student progress notes.
- Ability to reflect on competition outcomes including losses and translate that reflection into adjusted training priorities for the team.
Selection Process
The selection process comprises five rounds, described below.
Round 1 Recruiter Screening Call: The recruiter will verify the candidate's sport-specific credential or competitive and coaching record (name and year required); ask a sport-rules question and a first-aid scenario question; and confirm availability for early-morning, afterschool, Saturday and tournament-weekend timings, access to a personal two-wheeler and willingness to coach across different branch infrastructures. Candidates will also be asked to walk through a complete 40-minute beginner session for their sport on the call.
Round 2 Assessment: Further evaluation of coaching knowledge and sport-specific competence as determined by the hiring panel.
Round 3 Practical / Demo Session: Candidate conducts a live or observed coaching session with students or a panel audience, demonstrating session structure, instruction quality and safety awareness.
