Job Description: Systems Engineer Vehicle Features (HV Powertrain, Thermal Management & Charging Systems)
Company: Artneer India Private Limited
Location: India – Offshore
Engineering Experience: 3+ Years
Employment Type: Full-Time
CTC: Depending on experience and technical expertise.
About Artneer
Artneer Ltd is a UK-based engineering consultancy specializing in Automotive Cybersecurity, Functional Safety, Systems Engineering, and Software Development. We work with leading global OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers, delivering engineering excellence throughout the product development lifecycle.
We are looking for a Systems Engineer to join Artneer India and support the development and delivery of high-voltage (HV) powertrain, thermal management, and charging features for electrified vehicles, including BEV, PHEV, and HEV platforms.
Job Summary
This role focuses on defining vehicle-level feature requirements and system-level functional requirements, developing system architectures, and ensuring successful integration, system-level validation, and production readiness of electrified vehicle functions.
You will act as a systems engineering focal point for electrified vehicle features, with particular emphasis on plug-in charging, HV powertrain, and vehicle thermal management. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, suppliers, and international OEM stakeholders.
The position focuses on system-level and vehicle-level feature development, integration, and validation rather than component-level testing.
Key Responsibilities
1. Requirements Engineering and System Architecture
- Define, derive, decompose, and manage HV powertrain, thermal management, and charging requirements, ensuring full traceability across system, software, and hardware levels.
- Derive and define vehicle-level feature requirements and system-level functional requirements.
- Develop feature specifications, functional and system requirements, use cases, operating scenarios, and interface definitions.
- Support system architecture development, functional decomposition, trade-off studies, and technical decision-making.
2. High-Voltage Powertrain Systems
- Lead or contribute to propulsion systems, torque delivery, drive modes, regenerative braking, and energy optimisation.
- Support HV battery performance management, including State of Charge (SOC) and State of Health (SOH).
- Collaborate with battery, electric motor, inverter, and power electronics engineering teams.
3. Plug-in Charging Systems
- Support AC/DC charging, fast charging, charge control, and charging management.
- Work with Plug & Charge (ISO 15118), Combined Charging System (CCS), connected and remote charging, diagnostics, and charging safety.
- Support vehicle-to-EVSE interaction and system-level integration of charging features.
4. Thermal Management and Climate Control
- Support thermal management of HV batteries, electric motors, inverters, power electronics, and electrified powertrains.
- Contribute to energy and thermal optimisation across electrified vehicle systems.
- Support HVAC, cabin thermal management, and interfaces between climate control, battery thermal management, and wider vehicle thermal systems.
- Knowledge of conventional internal combustion powertrain thermal management is desirable.
5. System Integration, Verification and Validation
- Define and manage system interfaces across HV batteries, charging, electric drive, thermal management, HVAC, control, connectivity, and E/E systems.
- Prepare and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Support system-level integration, verification, and validation, including DVP planning, vehicle-level system testing, and feature acceptance testing.
- Analyse system and vehicle-level defects, coordinate root-cause investigations, and support resolution.
- Support programme gateway reviews, design reviews, technical risk management, engineering sign-off, and production-readiness activities.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with battery, power electronics, controls, charging, thermal management, HVAC, vehicle integration, cybersecurity, functional safety, and diagnostics teams.
- Work with suppliers and OEM stakeholders on technical requirements, design reviews, and system integration.
- Communicate technical issues, findings, and proposed solutions effectively across engineering teams.
Key Requirements
- Degree in Electrical, Systems, Automotive, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in automotive systems engineering, vehicle systems development, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience delivering electrified vehicle systems, ideally across BEV and/or PHEV applications.
- Experience deriving and defining vehicle-level feature requirements and system-level functional requirements.
- Demonstrable experience with plug-in vehicle charging systems, including AC and/or DC charging, charge control, charging interfaces, and system-level integration.
- Experience with PHEV and/or BEV charging systems is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO 15118, Plug & Charge, CCS, and vehicle-to-EVSE communication is highly desirable.
- Experience in system-level and vehicle-level testing, integration, and validation rather than predominantly component-level testing.
- Strong expertise in requirements engineering, functional decomposition, system architecture, interface definition, integration, and validation.
- Understanding of vehicle-level thermal management, including electrified powertrains, HV battery thermal management, electric drive and power electronics cooling, and climate control systems.
- Good understanding of HV vehicle systems, E/E architectures, and networks, including CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
- Familiarity with ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434, ISO 15118, and CCS charging.
Tools and Knowledge – Desirable
- Experience with DOORS, Polarion, Jira, Enterprise Architect, CANoe/CANalyzer, and MATLAB/Simulink.
- Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML, or Agile methodologies.
- Knowledge of diagnostics, including UDS and DoIP.
- Understanding of functional safety and automotive cybersecurity.
- Experience in system-level and vehicle-level feature validation, including HIL and SIL/MIL environments where applicable.
- Knowledge of thermal modelling, energy management, thermal optimisation, or HVAC/climate control systems.
- Experience working across OEM and supplier environments.
- Understanding of production readiness, programme gateways, technical risk management, and launch support.
What We Look For
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand complex system requirements and translate them into practical engineering solutions.
- Proactive approach to identifying technical issues and suggesting improvements.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and contribute to international automotive engineering programmes.
What We Offer
- Full-time employment with Artneer India Private Limited.
- CTC depending on experience and technical expertise.
- Opportunity to work on international automotive engineering programmes.
- Exposure to electrified vehicle technologies and global engineering teams.
- Professional development and continuous learning opportunities.
- Collaborative engineering culture with opportunities for career growth.
