About Shah Equity
Shah Equity is a proprietary trading firm based in HITEC City, Hyderabad, actively trading the US equity markets. Our core strategies are built around high frequency trading and intraday trading, supported by technology and disciplined risk management. Our trading floor runs on clear rules, real time monitoring and strict accountability.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Trading Floor Supervisor whose primary responsibility is to control risk on a live high frequency and intraday trading floor. This is a risk first role. The Floor Supervisor is the first line of defence for the firm capital and must know the position, exposure and profit and loss of every trader on the floor at all times. The role is about protecting capital and enforcing discipline, not pushing traders to take more risk.
Key Responsibilities
1. Monitor the real time positions, open exposure and profit and loss of 30 to 40 traders throughout the US market session.
2. Enforce daily loss limits, position size limits and maximum drawdown rules for every trader without exception.
3. Step in immediately when a trader breaches or approaches a risk limit, including reducing size, closing positions or stopping the trader for the day.
4. Ensure every trader updates profit and loss at fixed intervals and escalates losses to the supervisor as per floor rules.
5. Enforce floor discipline, including trading start times, break timings, attendance and conduct on the floor.
6. Manage trader allocation so that no trading account sits idle, including assigning standby traders when a trader is absent.
7. Identify risky behaviour such as revenge trading, overtrading, averaging down on losing positions and holding trades beyond limits, and correct it in real time.
8. Monitor the trading platform, order flow and connectivity, and escalate technical or execution issues immediately.
9. Maintain a daily risk log covering limit breaches, interventions, warnings and floor incidents.
10. Prepare end of day and weekly reports on desk profit and loss, risk breaches and trader discipline for management.
11. Conduct post market reviews with traders who breached limits and track their improvement.
12. Ensure trading activity follows firm policies and applicable US market regulations, working with the compliance and operations teams.
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics or a related field.
2. Minimum 3 years of experience in intraday trading, dealing, proprietary trading desk supervision or trading risk management.
3. Strong understanding of intraday risk concepts such as stop losses, position sizing, exposure, margin and drawdown.
4. Ability to track many traders and numbers at the same time and make firm decisions under pressure.
5. Strong command of Excel and comfort with trading platforms and live risk dashboards.
6. Clear and firm communication skills in English. Working knowledge of Hindi or Telugu will be helpful on the floor.
Preferred Qualifications
The following will be considered a strong advantage:
1. Prior experience supervising a trading floor or dealing room in the US stock market.
2. Hands on exposure to high frequency trading, scalping or high volume intraday trading.
3. Familiarity with US broker platforms, order types, Level 2 data and US market hours.
4. Working knowledge of US regulations such as SEC and FINRA rules, including intraday margin rules.
5. Experience as a team lead or risk manager in a proprietary trading firm.
Key Skills and Competencies
1. Risk first mindset with zero tolerance for rule breaches.
2. Firmness and fairness in handling traders.
3. Calm and decisive under live market pressure.
4. High attention to detail and strong numerical ability.
5. Integrity, ownership and accountability.
Working Hours
This role follows US market timings, Monday to Friday. The regular US market session runs from 7:00 PM to 1:30 AM IST during US Daylight Saving Time and from 8:00 PM to 2:30 AM IST during US Standard Time. The Floor Supervisor is expected to be on the floor before the market opens and to stay until all positions are closed and the end of day report is complete.
How to Apply
Interested candidates may share their updated resume along with a brief summary of their trading floor or risk management experience with the Shah Equity HR team. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next round of the selection process.
