Function: Operations & Maintenance (O&M)

Role Purpose

To lead the operation, maintenance, reliability, and performance optimization of Static VAR Generator (SVG) systems installed across Solar, Wind, and BESS assets. The role is responsible for ensuring grid code compliance, reactive power management, equipment reliability, system availability, and technical governance for all SVG assets.

The incumbent will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SVG systems and provide strategic technical guidance for troubleshooting, lifecycle management, technology improvements, and capability development across sites

Key Responsibilities

1. Operation & Maintenance of SVG Systems

• Ensure reliable operation of all SVG installations across assigned assets.
• Develop preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
• Monitor health parameters and performance indicators of SVG equipment.
• Review alarms, faults, events, and trip records.
• Ensure maximum equipment availability and minimum downtime.
• Develop annual shutdown and maintenance strategies.

2. System Reliability & Asset Performance

• Drive reliability improvement initiatives for SVG systems.
• Conduct Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical failures and recurring defects.
• Develop remedial action plans and track implementation.
• Establish reliability KPIs and benchmarks.

3. Grid Compliance & Reactive Power Management

• Ensure compliance with CEA regulations, Grid Codes, RLDC/SLDC requirements.
• Monitor reactive power performance and voltage control.
• Analyze power quality parameters such as:
• Power Factor
• Harmonics
• Voltage Fluctuation
• Flicker
• Reactive Energy Consumption
• Support regulatory audits and compliance assessments.
• Coordinate during grid disturbances and restoration activities.

4. Technical Troubleshooting & Engineering Support

• Provide expert-level troubleshooting support for:
• IGBT Modules
• Power Electronics
• Cooling Systems
• Capacitor Banks
• Reactors
• Protection Systems
• Communication Systems
• Interface with OEMs for fault rectification and design improvements.
• Validate technical modifications and engineering changes.

5. Predictive Maintenance & Diagnostics

• Implement:
• Thermography
• Protection Verification
• Condition Monitoring
• Online Diagnostics
• Vibration & Temperature Analysis
• Develop predictive maintenance dashboards.
• Establish component replacement strategy based on lifecycle analysis.

6. Projects, Commissioning & Upgrades

• Support commissioning and performance testing of new SVG installations.
• Review engineering drawings, schemes, and technical specifications.
• Lead retrofit and modernization initiatives.
• Participate in FAT, SAT, and performance guarantee tests.

7. OEM & Vendor Management

• Manage relationships with SVG OEMs and service partners.
• Evaluate vendor proposals and technical solutions.
• Review AMCs and service contracts.
• Drive warranty claim management.

8. Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to:
• Electrical Safety Standards
• Permit-to-Work Systems
• LOTO Procedures
• HSE Policies
• Conduct safety audits and compliance inspections.
• Ensure zero major safety incidents related to SVG operations.

9. Knowledge Management & Capability Building

• Prepare SOPs, troubleshooting manuals, and maintenance procedures.
• Conduct technical trainings and competency development programs.
• Mentor engineers and technicians.
• Develop site-level SVG capability and succession pipeline

10. Digitalization & Analytics

• Utilize SCADA dashboards for performance monitoring.
• Develop asset health analytics.
• Drive predictive and AI-based monitoring initiatives.
• Implement digital reliability improvement programs.
