Job Summary

Looking for an experienced Backup & Storage Administrator – L2 with strong hands-on experience in Veeam, Commvault, Enterprise Storage, Replication, and Disaster Recovery (DR/DRM). The candidate should independently handle L2 troubleshooting, RCA, backup/recovery, replication, and production/DR support.

Key Responsibilities

Commvault

• Administer and troubleshoot Commvault Backup & Recovery environments.
• Manage CommServe, MediaAgents, Storage Policies, Libraries, Deduplication, DRM and backup schedules.
• Troubleshoot backup/restore failures and performance issues.
• Manage Auxiliary Copy, DASH Copy, retention, and replication.
• Support Production-to-DR replication, failover/failback, and DR testing.

Veeam

• Administer and troubleshoot Veeam Backup & Replication.
• Manage Backup Jobs, Backup Copy Jobs, Replication Jobs, Proxies, Repositories, and SOBR.
• Perform VM/file/application restores and recovery testing.
• Manage VM Replication, Planned/Unplanned Failover, Failback, and Permanent Failover.
• Troubleshoot backup, replication, repository, proxy, snapshot, and connectivity issues.

Storage Administration

• Good Handson on HPE storages & Tape Libraries. (MSA, StoreOnce, Alletra, Nimble, MSL tape libraries)
• Administration and troubleshooting of SAN/NAS storage.
• Good knowledge of Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, SMB, RAID, LUNs, Volumes, Storage Pools, SAN SW Zoning & Multipathing.
• Perform LUN provisioning, mapping, masking, resizing, and storage expansion.
• Monitor storage capacity, IOPS, latency, and performance.
• Troubleshoot storage connectivity, performance, RAID, disk, and replication issues.

DR / DRM

• Support enterprise Disaster Recovery and Migration (DRM) activities.
• Perform planned/unplanned failover and failback.
• Participate in DR drills and recovery testing.
• Validate RPO/RTO requirements.
• Maintain DR runbooks, recovery procedures, and dependency documentation.
• Support data-center and workload migration activities.

Virtualization & OS

• Working knowledge of VMware ESXi/vCenter, Hyper-V, Windows Server, and Linux.
• Troubleshoot VM snapshots, datastores, backup agents, and OS-level backup issues.
• Basic PowerShell/Shell scripting and network troubleshooting.

L2 Support & RCA

• Monitor backup, replication, storage, and DR environments.
• Troubleshoot P1/P2 incidents and recurring failures.
• Perform detailed log analysis and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Coordinate with Network, VMware, Storage, Application, Database, and OEM teams.
• Support upgrades, patching, migrations, and change activities.
• Maintain technical documentation and ensure SLA compliance.

Ransomware & Backup Security

• Implement and manage ransomware protection for enterprise backup environments.
• Hands-on knowledge of Immutable Backups and protected backup repositories.
• Manage Air-Gapped / Offline Backup solutions for critical workloads.
• Configure and monitor Veeam Hardened Repository and other immutable backup solutions where applicable.
• Understand 3-2-1 / 3-2-1-1-0 backup strategy and ransomware-resilient backup architecture.
• Protect backup infrastructure from unauthorized access and malicious deletion.
• Implement appropriate RBAC, MFA, access controls, and least-privilege principles for backup infrastructure.
• Monitor and troubleshoot suspicious backup activity, deletion attempts, and ransomware-related alerts.
• Ensure backup copies are isolated from the production environment and protected against unauthorized modification.
• Perform regular restore validation and recovery testing to ensure clean and recoverable backup copies.
• Support ransomware recovery and DR activities, including recovery from clean/isolated backup copies.
• Coordinate with Security, SOC, Network, Storage, and OEM teams during ransomware/security incidents.
