Staff Software Engineer

We are looking for a highly experienced and technically strong Software Engineer with 8+ years of software development experience to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Java, Spring, Spring Boot, microservices, MySQL, and Apache Kafka, along with hands-on experience in agentic AI and AI-driven application development.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing scalable, highly available, and resilient backend systems while contributing to the organization's adoption of generative AI and agentic AI capabilities. You will work closely with engineering, product, architecture, and other cross-functional teams to drive technical solutions from concept to production.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and reliable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Architect and develop microservices-based applications following industry best practices.
• Design robust RESTful APIs and service-to-service communication patterns.
• Work extensively with Apache Kafka for event-driven architecture, asynchronous processing, and real-time data streaming.
• Design and optimize MySQL databases, including schema design, indexing, query optimization, transactions, and performance tuning.
• Develop highly available and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Drive technical design discussions and contribute to architecture and system design decisions.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on coding standards, architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering quality standards.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, QA, DevOps, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality products.
• Investigate and resolve complex production issues and participate in root-cause analysis.
• Contribute to the organization's generative AI/agentic AI initiatives, including designing AI-powered workflows and intelligent automation.
• Design and implement AI agents, tool-calling workflows, orchestration, and agent-based solutions using appropriate AI frameworks and technologies.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and identify opportunities to integrate Agentic AI into existing products and business processes.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Strong experience in Java + Spring Boot + Microservices + MySQL + Kafka.
• Demonstrated experience with generative AI/agentic AI technologies and use cases.
• Strong software design, architecture, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.

Java and Backend Development:

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, preferably Java 8+.
• Strong expertise in Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Strong experience developing REST APIs and backend services.
• Excellent understanding of object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, design patterns, and clean code practices.
• Strong experience with microservices architecture. Apache Kafka
• Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka.
• Experience with Kafka producers, consumers, topics, partitions, consumer groups, offsets, and replication.
• Understanding of event-driven architecture and asynchronous processing.
• Experience troubleshooting and optimizing Kafka-based applications.
• Experience with Kafka Streams or similar stream-processing technologies is a plus.

Database:

• Strong experience with MySQL.
• Excellent understanding of relational database design.
• Experience with SQL query optimization, indexing, transactions, and database performance tuning.
• Experience with ORM technologies such as Hibernate/JPA. Agentic AI / Generative AI
• Strong hands-on experience or demonstrable project experience with generative AI and agentic AI.
• Understanding of AI agents, LLMs, tool/function calling, agent orchestration, and multi-step reasoning workflows.
• Experience integrating LLMs/APIs into enterprise applications.
• Understanding of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and vector databases.
• Experience with AI/agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, CrewAI, or equivalent technologies is desirable.
• Understanding of prompt engineering, embeddings, vector search, and AI evaluation is a plus.
• Experience building production-grade AI-powered applications is highly desirable.

Software Engineering and Architecture:

• Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalable application architecture.
• Experience with High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD).
• Strong knowledge of concurrency, multithreading, caching, fault tolerance, and resiliency patterns.
• Understanding of CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is desirable.
• Experience with observability, logging, monitoring, and application performance management is a plus.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum software development methodologies.
