As a Staff Engineer, you will define architecture, scalability, reliability, and AI-native engineering practices that directly impact millions of shoppers and thousands of merchants globally. This role will shape how GoKwik builds and scales intelligent systems across payments, checkout, conversion, and merchant workflows. What You’ll Own

• Architect and build distributed, high-throughput systems across checkout, payments, and merchant experiences designed for large-scale traffic spikes
• Define multi-quarter technical vision and drive architectural decisions including re-platforming, decomposition, latency reduction, and scalable infrastructure design
• Lead by example through hands-on coding, solving complex engineering challenges, and driving high-quality design and code reviews
• Collaborate closely with Product, Business, and Merchant Success teams to translate business problems into scalable technical solutions
• Own production reliability, incident response, observability, SLOs, and postmortem processes for critical systems
• Design and ship AI-powered systems including LLM-driven workflows, agentic systems, AI copilots, and intelligent merchant experiences
• Build AI-native engineering practices leveraging coding agents, AI reviewers, and modern developer tooling responsibly and effectively Who You Are
• 8–12 years of hands-on engineering experience in product companies operating at scale across fintech, payments, eCommerce, SaaS, or similar domains
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, consistency, queues, streams, caching, and system reliability principles
• Strong backend expertise in Go, Java, Node.js, or Python with experience across relational/NoSQL databases, Kafka/SQS, Redis, AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, and observability stacks
• Experience making large-scale architectural decisions such as migrations, service decomposition, and infrastructure redesigns
• Hands-on experience shipping GenAI or LLM-powered systems into production using RAG pipelines, embeddings, vector databases, and agent frameworks
• Familiarity with AI tooling such as Cursor, Codex, Claude Code, or similar AI-native engineering workflows
