Staff Engineer

We are hiring a Staff Product Development Engineer to serve as the technical lead for AI Core platform enablement and control plane systems within the Bangalore-based AI Core team. Partnering closely with U. S. AI Core engineering leadership, this role will own the design and implementation of developer-facing tooling, evaluation systems, and experimentation surfaces that accelerate AI adoption across Ad Platforms.

This role will focus on building the control plane of AI Core, including evaluation dashboards, prompt and agent experimentation tools, trace visualisation systems, and internal developer workflows that expose reusable AI capabilities to product teams. You will play a hands-on role in shaping system design, defining API contracts between runtime and control layers, mentoring engineers, and driving high-quality delivery of scalable, production-grade full-stack systems. This position blends strong backend depth with fullstack leadership and is accountable for improving AI adoption velocity and developer experience across Ad Platforms through scalable, production-ready enablement systems.

The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:

Developer Enablement and Tooling:

• Build and evolve evaluation dashboards, internal consoles, and developer-facing interfaces that accelerate safe AI experimentation.
• Create reusable UI components and backend APIs that standardise how teams interact with AI Core services.
• Design and implement trace visualisation and observability surfaces for multi-agent workflows.
• Drive improvements in developer experience, usability, and workflow efficiency across AI Core consumers.
• Design experimentation and evaluation workflows that promote efficient and responsible model usage.

Backend Integration and API Ownership:

• Design robust backend services and APIs supporting control plane workflows.
• Ensure tight integration between orchestration services and enablement tooling while maintaining clean service boundaries.
• Maintain production readiness, reliability, and performance across fullstack systems.
• Contribute directly to backend and frontend code in critical areas of the platform.
• Own reliability, performance, and operational health of AI Core control plane systems.

Engineering Standards and Technical Quality:

• Establish best practices for fullstack development including API design, frontend architecture, test automation, CI/CD, and observability.
• Mentor engineers on system design, UI architecture, and developer tooling best practices.
• Raise the bar for usability, maintainability, and engineering rigour across AI Core enablement systems.

Cross-Functional and Cross-Regional Collaboration:

• Collaborate with product, UX, infrastructure, and governance teams to ensure tooling aligns with enterprise requirements and adoption goals.
• Serve as the primary technical lead for control plane systems within the Bangalore AI Core team.
• Influence roadmap and technical decisions through strong engineering judgment and measurable impact on adoption velocity.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend and fullstack expertise.
• Strong proficiency in Python for backend systems and experience building modern frontend applications using frameworks such as React, Next.js, or similar.
• Experience building developer-facing platforms, internal tooling, or evaluation systems in production environments.
• Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs and working with agent orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph or similar workflow-based systems.
• Experience designing APIs and fullstack systems that interact with distributed backend services.
• Strong understanding of frontend architecture patterns, state management, and scalable UI system design.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical design discussions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience building evaluation frameworks, experimentation platforms, or observability tooling for AI systems.
• Experience designing trace visualisation or workflow inspection systems for multi-agent architectures.
• Knowledge of AI governance, safety controls, and model usage guardrails.
• Experience working in globally distributed engineering organisations.
• Experience operating in enterprise cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (Master's preferred), or equivalent experience.
