Staff Engineer, GCP Big Data Engineer

REQUIREMENTS:

• Total experience: 6+ years.
• Excellent knowledge and experience in GCP Bigdata Engineer role.
• Strong working experience with architecture and development in Spark, Python/Pyspark, GCP (Bigquery, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions etc.), SQL.
• Strong programming proficiency in Python.
• Expertise in SQL with experience writing complex, high-performance queries.
• Hands-on experience with Google BigQuery (must have).
• Practical experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including:

1. Cloud Functions
2. Cloud Run
3. Cloud Workflows

• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT design, data transformation, and workflow automation.
• Experience working with large-scale distributed data systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Architect, design, and implement scalable, high performance data pipelines across structured and unstructured data sources.
• Develop robust ETL/ELT workflows using Python, SQL, and GCP-native services.
• Build and optimize BigQuery data models, partitioning strategies, and performance tuning.
• Leverage GCP Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, and Workflows for orchestration, automation, and microservices-based data processing.
• Lead design discussions on data architecture, warehousing strategies, and best practices.
• Implement and manage dbt transformations including testing, documentation, and lineage tracking.
• Perform advanced data profiling, quality checks, validation, and partner with stakeholders to resolve data issues.
• Collaborate with data analysts, architects, product teams, and business stakeholders to ensure reliable data availability and governance.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to cross functional technical leadership.
• Ensure compliance with security, governance, scalability, and performance standards.
