Staff Software Engineer

Guide technical direction across teams and products for Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets. The platform handles depreciation, tax, and valuation workloads over millions of assets through a performance-critical C++calculation engine. Lead modernization toward a cloud-native, event-driven AWS platform with remote teams, protecting correctness, auditability, and regulatory reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead business analysis, architecture, application design, development, integration, delivery, maintenance, and support. Provide hands-on DevSecOps solutions and anticipate product-level technical issues.
• Own and evolve the calculation path through hands-on C/C++ profiling, numerical correctness work, safe refactoring, and clear interfaces to C# services and data.
• Define incremental migration boundaries from legacy monoliths, stored procedures, and tightly coupled integrations to AWS EKS, Lambda, Step Functions, Amazon RDS, and event-driven services.
• Design scalable, highly available, high-performance products across C++, C# / .NET, React, TypeScript, Node.js, SQL Server, and Amazon RDS. Ship large services, complex libraries, or major infrastructure.
• Define and promote INDG engineering best practices influence technology choices across domains and lead initiatives spanning teams, verticals, and business units.
• Contribute to the technology roadmap, identify opportunities for business growth, and present solutions to technical and nontechnical partners. Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications

• Related bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with a deep record of building commercial applications using modern software engineering practices across multiple systems, teams, and release cycles.
• Recent hands-on production C++ experience on performance- or numerically sensitive systems, plus proficiency with C# / .NET, React / TypeScript, SQL Server / T-SQL, and Amazon RDS.
• Knowledge across technical domains and an understanding of how and why INDG deploys technologies. A record of improving stability, performance, and scalability in business-critical systems.
• An understanding of the relationship between complexity and cost, with successful long-term strategies to reduce both.
• Expertise across AWS, serverless, event-driven architecture, service-oriented architecture, microservices, microfrontends, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and Amazon RDS.
• Strong software engineering practices across coding standards, architecture and design patterns, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, and operations.
