Role Overview

The Senior Site Reliability Engineer owns reliability, performance, and operational excellence across AWS and Kubernetes (EKS) platforms for production-critical systems. This role leads high-severity incident response as incident commander, drives root-cause analysis, and follows through with durable remediation. It designs and scales Python-based automation frameworks and Terraform infrastructure modules to eliminate toil and standardize environments. The SRE sets observability strategy with Grafana and alerting, implements multi-region monitoring, and mentors engineers to raise the bar on troubleshooting and reliability practices.

Required Qualifications

• 8-10 years in SRE/DevOps/Cloud Infrastructure roles managing production-critical systems
• Deep hands-on AWS expertise (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, networking)
• Advanced Amazon EKS/Kubernetes troubleshooting (cluster failures, networking/CNI, autoscaling, performance, upgrades)
• Strong proficiency in Python for automation frameworks and internal tooling (beyond ad-hoc scripts)
• Extensive Terraform experience (modules, reusable patterns, secure/scalable IaC at scale)
• ITSM ownership of Incident Management and Problem Management, including RCA and PIRs
• Advanced log and data analysis using SQL and CloudWatch Logs Insights
• Observability/monitoring and alerting design with Grafana; multi-team dashboards and alert strategy
• Design of self-healing automation and runbooks; proactive failure detection and remediation
• Multi-region monitoring and failover readiness
• Excellent communication with engineering leadership and non-technical stakeholders
• Mentoring and technical leadership of SREs/engineers
• On-call participation and senior escalation support
• Mandatory certifications: AWS Professional-level (e.g., Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional) and CKA (or equivalent)
• Bachelors degree in CS/IT or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

• Serve as incident commander; lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex, high-severity incidents across AWS and EKS
• Design and build robust Python-based automation frameworks and internal tooling to reduce toil and improve reliability at scale
• Architect, standardize, and maintain Terraform-based IaC with reusable, secure, and scalable modules across environments
• Define observability strategy; design Grafana dashboards and alerting frameworks to surface actionable signals
• Use SQL and CloudWatch Logs Insights to drive deep root-cause analysis for cross-service incidents
• Own ITSM processes: Incident and Problem Management, RCA documentation, post-incident reviews, and long-term remediation
• Mentor junior/mid-level SREs; review troubleshooting, automation, and incident handling approaches
• Communicate incident impact, risk, and remediation to engineering, product, and leadership stakeholders
• Design self-healing automation and runbooks to automatically detect and remediate known failure patterns
• Implement and maintain monitoring across multiple regions for health, latency, and failover readiness
• Proactively identify failure points and performance bottlenecks; automate recurring operational tasks
• Provide senior-level escalation support and participate in on-call rotations
