This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr Sustainment Development Manager based in United States.
The Senior Sustainment Development Manager will lead Integrated Product Support (IPS) teams supporting advanced military propulsion programs and long-term sustainment objectives. This strategic leadership role connects engineering, maintenance, logistics, supply chain, and customer priorities across complex development programs. You will shape sustainment strategies spanning maintenance concepts, repair capabilities, supply chain integration, and condition-based maintenance. The role requires strong collaboration with internal teams and external U.S. military customers to build scalable, executable sustainment capabilities. You will also develop roadmaps, business cases, proposals, cost models, schedules, and risk assessments that influence long-term program decisions. Success requires disciplined execution, structured problem solving, sound judgment, and the ability to translate complex operational needs into practical solutions. This is a full-time, on-site leadership position in Cincinnati, Ohio, supporting high-impact defense and aerospace programs.
Accountabilities:: Lead internal and external teams in planning, developing, and establishing Integrated Product Support capabilities across maintenance and repair levels for advanced propulsion development programs.
Lead cross-functional teams in developing logistics and sustainment capabilities, including organizational, intermediate, and depot-level maintenance concepts, flight-test requirements, and sustainment supply chain integration.
Develop and mature Condition-Based Maintenance Plus (CBM+) capabilities to improve equipment availability, maintenance effectiveness, and lifecycle outcomes.
Integrate supply chain activities into comprehensive sustainment development plans and ensure alignment with broader program objectives.
Evaluate sustainment strategies and develop recommendations designed to strengthen maintenance capabilities, improve operational performance, and reduce lifecycle costs.
Build long-term sustainment roadmaps and lead analytical studies that translate customer requirements into executable strategies aligned with cost and budget objectives.
Apply lessons learned and operational experience to develop courses of action for future programs and business opportunities.
Develop cost, pricing, schedule, and risk information for new initiatives and support effective proposal development and execution.
Provide IPS and sustainment proposal inputs, including requirements interpretation, compliance matrices, bases of estimate, cost and schedule information, risk assessments, and timely deliverables.
Establish disciplined operating rhythms, including daily management and weekly operating reviews, to monitor execution, identify barriers, and drive continuous improvement.
Work closely with leadership and customer stakeholders to address complex sustainment challenges and support long-term program success.
Perform additional sustainment development activities and initiatives as required by program leadership.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least 5 years of leadership experience; alternatively, a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years in a leadership role plus the required leadership experience.
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a relevant environment.
Strong understanding of U.S. military organizations and the roles and responsibilities of military maintenance, logistics, and sustainment organizations.
Experience with U.S. military sustainment processes, Integrated Product Support elements, and defense program environments is highly valued.
Must be able to work full-time on-site in Cincinnati, Ohio, with limited remote or work-from-home opportunities due to security requirements.
Must possess or be eligible to obtain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance .
Role is restricted to U.S. Citizens and requires access to U.S. export-controlled information; candidates must meet applicable U.S. Person requirements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leaders, technical teams, customers, and external stakeholders.
Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience working with U.S. Air Force Materiel Command or within the Department of Defense industry is a plus.
Direct experience fielding and sustaining 5th-generation weapon systems is preferred.
Knowledge of turbine engine operation and military aircraft propulsion maintenance, logistics, and sustainment processes is highly desirable.
Experience managing aircraft or propulsion maintenance workloads across organizational, intermediate, and depot levels is a plus.
Experience supporting military propulsion systems and complex aerospace sustainment programs is preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to challenge existing processes and develop practical solutions.
Demonstrated leadership, decision-making, collaboration, prioritization, and stakeholder-management skills.
A humble, transparent, focused, and accountable working style, with the ability to communicate candidly, learn quickly, and contribute constructively.
