Position Summary The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable full-stack web applications, backend services, APIs, and integration components that support RMF business and engineering systems. This role focuses on building secure, reliable, and maintainable software solutions using .NET Core / C#, Microsoft Azure, Angular, and sound software engineering practices including design patterns, SOLID principles, automated testing, and Agile delivery methods. The position works closely with product owners, architects, data engineers, QA engineers, front-end developers, and domain specialists to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions. The role contributes across the software development lifecycle, from design through deployment and production support, while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, tooling, security, and operational excellence practices. The role also leverages Generative AI enabled engineering practices, where approved, to improve development efficiency, code quality, documentation, test creation, and delivery effectiveness while applying human judgment and enterprise guardrails. Agile Delivery & Collaboration
- Work within Agile teams to deliver features and enhancements iteratively with quality and predictability.
- Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate effectively with product owners, architects, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, and cross-functional teams to clarify requirements and deliver business value.
- Proactively identify risks, dependencies, technical debt, and improvement opportunities during delivery execution. Support production incidents, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities when required. Generative AI & Modern Engineering Practices Use enterprise-approved Generative AI tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to assist with code generation, refactoring, documentation, test creation, and productivity improvement. Apply human judgment to validate AI-assisted outputs for security, reliability, maintainability, compliance, and business fit. Explore and responsibly adopt emerging engineering practices, including AI-assisted development workflows, within approved enterprise guardrails. Demonstrate awareness of Python, GenAI concepts, and data engineering fundamentals to support modern solution development where relevant. Enterprise Tools & Standards Work within built tools such as Orion, Azure DevOps Pipelines, ACME, NextPage, and Status where applicable. Use commonly adopted tools including GHAZDO, DAST, GitHub Copilot, Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Azure DevOps, and ServiceNow. Ensure solutions align with engineering standards including CDAS, cvxcontrols, secure coding expectations, and operational excellence practices. Differentiating & Desired Skills Experience with Python for backend development, automation, testing, or engineering workflows. Understanding of Generative AI concepts and AI-assisted software engineering practices. Familiarity with data engineering concepts, including data pipelines, transformation, and structured or unstructured data handling. Exposure to Azure Service Bus, Azure Redis, distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and containerized application patterns. Familiarity with common backend and enterprise application design patterns such as repository, factory, strategy, mediator, and dependency injection patterns. Awareness of application observability, monitoring, logging, performance optimization, and cloud cost optimization practices. Required Skills / Qualifications Strong hands-on experience in C#, .NET Core / .NET, ASP.NET Web API, and full-stack application development. Strong working knowledge of Angular, TypeScript, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS/SCSS for frontend development. Experience building cloud-native applications using Microsoft Azure PaaS services. Hands-on experience with REST API development, backend services, system integration, and SQL-based data access. Strong understanding of software design patterns, SOLID principles, dependency injection, object-oriented programming, asynchronous programming, debugging, source control, and testing.
- Experience using Git and Azure DevOps pipelines for source control, CI/CD, and release automation.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and ownership skills.
Secondary / Preferred Skills
- Experience with Azure Service Bus, Azure Redis, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, and Azure SQL Database.
- Exposure to Docker, containerization concepts, and Azure Container Registry.
- Experience with Azure Monitoring, logging, application insights, and production observability practices.
- Understanding of authentication and authorization concepts, including Azure Active Directory integration. Experience using GitHub Copilot or similar enterprise-approved AI-assisted development tools. Awareness of secure coding, application scanning, DAST, dependency management, and enterprise compliance practices. Relevant RMF, reservoir engineering, forecasting, or subsurface domain knowledge is preferred but not mandatory.
