    About this role

    Job Summary

The Senior Release Engineer owns the planning, coordination, governance, and continuous improvement of releases across Danaher's Enterprise Data Platform, including Snowflake, Azure, Matillion, dbt, Airflow, GitHub, and related data services. This role orchestrates releases across platform, data engineering, operations, security, and OpCo teams, ensuring changes are tested, approved, traceable, communicated, and deployed with minimal business disruption. The Release Manager strengthens release discipline through automation, standard controls, metrics, and pragmatic delivery practices while supporting both planned releases and urgent production changes.

This position reports to the Director - Data Platform and Operations and is part of the Enterprise Data Engineering team located in the Bangalore IDC office. The specific working arrangement will be confirmed by the interview team.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead end-to-end release management and governance for the data platform, including release planning, scope, schedules, dependencies, readiness reviews, go/no-go decisions, change approvals, production readiness checks, deployments, validation, rollback, hypercare, closure activities, and post-release reviews with clear decision tracking and accountability.
    • Coordinate cross-functional delivery and stakeholder alignment by partnering with platform engineering, data engineering, DataOps, architecture, security, service management, vendors, and OpCo teams to manage dependencies, mitigate risks, represent releases at Change Approval Boards, ensure adherence to DHR standard processes, and align release trains with enterprise platform priorities, data product delivery, compliance commitments, and OpCo onboarding.
    • Establish and continuously improve release processes, standards, and automation by defining and maintaining release calendars, checklists, entry and exit criteria, deployment and rollback plans, runbooks, evidence requirements, and release reporting, while advancing GitHub Actions, CI/CD, GitOps, automated testing, environment promotion, and deployment controls.
    • Ensure change, risk, compliance, and production stability management by enforcing change-management, segregation-of-duties, security, audit, compliance, and emergency change requirements; coordinating release windows, production validation, incident handoffs, rollback decisions, and release communications to minimize failed changes and service disruptions.
    • Drive release transparency, performance measurement, and continuous improvement through stakeholder communications, reporting of release status, milestones, dependencies, risks and decisions, and by leveraging release outcomes, defects, incidents, lead time, deployment frequency, rollback trends, and lessons learned to improve delivery reliability, efficiency, and operational excellence.

    Essential Requirements

    • 5+ years of progressive experience in release management, change management, platform operations, software delivery, or related technology disciplines, including responsibility for coordinating enterprise production releases across complex technology environments.
    • Proven experience managing releases across cloud, data, or software platforms, working across multiple teams, environments, dependencies, and stakeholder groups while balancing competing priorities and ensuring successful delivery outcomes.
    • Strong technical understanding of modern data platform technologies, including Snowflake, Azure, Matillion, dbt, and Apache Airflow, with the ability to assess deployment dependencies, operational impacts, and production risks.
    • Hands-on knowledge of modern software delivery and change-control practices, including GitHub Enterprise or comparable source-control platforms, CI/CD methodologies, branching and promotion strategies, automated testing, deployment approvals, rollback procedures, and IT service management/change processes using ServiceNow or equivalent tools, including standard, normal, and emergency changes.
    • Exceptional planning, facilitation, documentation, risk management, and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple releases, translate complex technical release information into concise status, readiness, risk, and decision communications for both engineering teams and executive leadership; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements

    • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and occasionally internationally for team meetings, planning workshops, vendor engagements, and OpCo collaboration.

    Preferred Experience

    • Release management for regulated or audit-sensitive platforms under SOX, SOC 1/2, GxP, privacy, or similar control frameworks.
    • GitOps, reusable GitHub Actions workflows, automated quality gates, artifact versioning, and progressive delivery practices.
    • Data platform observability, incident management, problem management, disaster recovery, and operational readiness.
    • Coordinating releases in a multi-OpCo, multi-tenant, or federated enterprise environment.
    • Certifications such as ITIL 4, SAFe, Scrum.
