Roles & Responsibilities for a Sr. Quantity Surveyor (QS)
1. Quantity Measurement & Billing
- Prepare & check bills of quantities (BOQ), RA bills
- Measure & verify site quantities for client billing
- Ensure accuracy in itemization, rates, and measurements
2. Cost Control & Budgeting
- Track project costs vs budget; flag cost overruns
- Prepare cost reports, variation analysis
- Support in preparing project financial forecasts
3. Contract Management
- Interpret contract terms; ensure compliance
- Handle variations, claims, and extensions of time (EOT)
- Coordinate with clients/consultants on contractual issues
4. Site Coordination
- Liaise with site engineers on material reconciliation
- Verify site measurements for accuracy
- Attend site meetings, review progress vs plans
5. Tendering Support
- Prepare BOQs for tenders; assist in bid analysis
- Coordinate with estimators on cost inputs
6. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare project cost reports, status updates
- Maintain records of measurements, variations, approvals
