Sr. Observability Engineer

We are seeking an Observability Engineer to own day-to-day reliability operations and expand our monitoring coverage across GCP-hosted applications. This role is responsible for the hands-on work of keeping observability platforms healthy, onboarding new applications and monitoring platforms, and refining existing monitoring configurations with a particular focus on GCP application coverage and support for monitoring Salesforce.

This individual will handle daily observability operations, assist application teams with GCP-related monitoring coverage, and lead onboarding and refinement efforts for the platforms used to monitor both GCP and Salesforce. Deep Salesforce expertise is not required for this role; a base understanding of the Salesforce platform is recommended to support monitoring configuration and troubleshooting conversations with Salesforce teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Day-to-Day Observability Operations: Own the daily care and feeding of observability tooling triaging alerts, maintaining dashboards, and responding to monitoring gaps as they arise.
• GCP Application Monitoring Coverage: Assist application teams in extending and maintaining monitoring coverage for GCP-hosted services, ensuring key applications are properly instrumented and represented in dashboards and alerts.
• Monitoring Platform Onboarding & Refinement: Lead onboarding of new applications and services onto monitoring platforms, and continuously refine existing monitoring configurations to improve accuracy and reduce gaps for both GCP and Salesforce coverage.
• Salesforce Monitoring Support: Support monitoring configuration for Salesforce-connected systems, working with Salesforce teams to route relevant signals into centralized observability platforms. Deep Salesforce development experience is not necessary; a working understanding of the platform is sufficient.
• Observability, Dashboards & Alerting: Build and maintain actionable dashboards and alerting workflows that surface customer-impacting issues and support day-to-day operational awareness.
• Performance & Incident Support: Help identify monitoring or coverage gaps that contribute to delayed detection, and support performance troubleshooting across GCP and Salesforce-connected applications.
• Cross-Functional Enablement: Serve as a day-to-day point of contact between application teams, platform teams, and Salesforce teams for monitoring coverage, onboarding requests, and refinement work.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Core Observability Engineering: Experience in observability, reliability, or platform engineering with a solid understanding of monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and day-to-day operational support.
• GCP Experience: Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, including GCP-native or third-party monitoring tools, and familiarity with instrumenting GCP-hosted applications.
• Monitoring Platform Onboarding: Experience onboarding applications or systems onto monitoring/observability platforms and refining existing configurations for better accuracy and coverage.
• Observability Tooling: Familiarity with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, New Relic, AppDynamics, or similar tools.
• Salesforce Familiarity (Recommended, Not Required): A base understanding of the Salesforce platform such as its data model, common integration points, or basic Apex/log concepts is recommended; deep Salesforce development experience is not necessary.
• Day-to-Day Operational Mindset: Comfortable owning recurring operational work, responding to monitoring gaps quickly, and communicating clearly with application and platform teams.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate is a hands-on observability engineer who enjoys the day-to-day work of keeping monitoring healthy someone who can extend GCP application coverage, lead onboarding of new platforms, and refine monitoring configurations, while being comfortable enough with Salesforce fundamentals to support monitoring conversations without needing deep platform expertise.

SUCCESS MEASURES

Success in this role will be measured by expanded and more accurate GCP application monitoring coverage, successful onboarding and refinement of monitoring platforms for GCP and Salesforce, faster day-to-day incident triage, and fewer monitoring coverage gaps.
