Sr Java Developer

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer with 8-12 years of experience to support our secured credit card project. The ideal candidate will have strong backend development expertise in Java, hands-on experience in the banking/fintech domain, and the ability to design and build secure, scalable, and high-performance applications handling sensitive financial data.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and applications using Java/J2EE for the secured credit card platform.
• Build and enhance features related to card issuance, credit limit management, transaction processing, billing, and repayments.
• Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Design and implement RESTful/SOAP APIs for integration with internal systems (core banking, payment gateways, credit bureaus) and external partners/networks (Visa, Mastercard, RuPay, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards relevant to payment card systems (PCI-DSS, data encryption, tokenization).
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability for high-volume transaction processing.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code following best engineering practices.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design sessions.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues within defined SLAs/TAT.
• Ensure proper logging, monitoring, and exception handling across services.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.

Requirements & Qualifications

• 8-12 years of professional experience in Java/J2EE backend development.
• Prior experience working on banking, fintech, or credit/debit card projects (secured credit cards experience is a strong plus).
• Strong knowledge of Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Batch).
• Hands-on experience with RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and web services (SOAP/REST).
• Proficiency with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and strong SQL skills.
• Experience with messaging/event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).
• Understanding of payment card industry standards (PCI-DSS compliance, encryption, tokenization).
• Familiarity with core banking systems, payment gateways, or card network integrations (Visa/Mastercard/RuPay) is highly desirable.
• Experience with application servers (Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic) and build tools (Maven/Gradle).
• Knowledge of version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.

Good to Have

• Experience with credit risk, underwriting, or collections systems.
• Exposure to ISO 8583 or other card transaction messaging standards.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
• Relevant certifications (Java, Spring, AWS, or banking domain certifications).
