Electrical Engineer 400kvTransmission Substation

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with strong hands-on experience in 400kV transmission substations. The candidate will be responsible for the manufacturing, installation, maintenance, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and fault investigation of high-voltage substation equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of 400/132kV transmission substation equipment.
• Work on Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), Power Transformers, Shunt Reactors and associated auxiliary systems.
• Identify equipment abnormalities and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot GIS control schemes, interlocks and operating mechanisms.
• Respond to real-time alarms and technical complaints related to substation equipment.
• Conduct independent investigations of equipment failures and identify root causes.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, failure analysis reports and presentations.
• Support installation, testing and commissioning activities for HV equipment.
• Perform troubleshooting of circuit breaker hydraulic mechanisms and associated systems.
• Exposure to Partial Discharge (PD) monitoring systems will be an added advantage.
• Ensure safe execution of maintenance and commissioning activities in accordance with electrical safety procedures.
• Coordinate with maintenance, testing, commissioning and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.

Mandatory Requirements

• B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering: Minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
• Diploma in Electrical Engineering: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with 400/132kV transmission substations.
• Experience with GIS / Gas Insulated Switchgear.
• Good knowledge of Power Transformers and Shunt Reactors.
• Strong understanding of GIS control schemes, interlocks and operating mechanisms.
• Experience in testing, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of HV substation equipment.
• Experience in circuit breaker hydraulic systems and fault troubleshooting.
• Ability to conduct equipment failure investigation and root-cause analysis.
• Good technical report writing and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in technical English speaking and writing.

Preferred

• Gulf / GCC experience preferred.
• Experience with Partial Discharge (PD) monitoring systems.
• Exposure to expatriate / international transmission substation projects.
