Sr Cloud Engineer

Required Skills And Experience

• 4/5+ years of experience working with Azure and AWS or any other major cloud platform technologies
• Provisioning, operating, and maintaining systems running on Azure and AWS cloud platforms including deployment/teardown with strong focus on automation and optimization
• Proficient with cloud platforms including IaaS & PaaS components, for example: Azure Virtual Machines/EC2, Storage Accounts/S3, vNets/VPCs, Azure App Service/AWS Lambda, AKS/EKS, Azure SQL/RDS, messaging and integration services
• Strong scripting and automation skills to reduce operational effort (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Azure CLI, AWS CLI)
• Infrastructure as code (IaC), and CI/CD pipeline experience is required – example: Terraform, Bicep/ARM, CloudFormation, Gitlab, ADO
• Expert level understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems from an administration perspective including system hardening, patching strategies, performance optimization, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and automation of OS-level tasks
• Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, CloudWatch, CloudTrail)
• Experience managing backup, DR and patching across cloud platforms
• Strong experience with security best practices including RBAC/IAM, encryption, logging and compliance controls
• Strong knowledge of network (LAN, WAN, VPN) and web related protocols
• Experience creating and maintaining operational documentation, runbooks and conducting knowledge transfer sessions
• Excellent troubleshooting skills including complex OS, platform and cloud issues with root cause analysis
• Experience with ITIL/ITSM processes including incident/request management, change and configuration management. Ideally ITIL Foundation certified. ServiceNow exposure is a bonus
• Good awareness of latest Azure and AWS platform capabilities and ability to apply them in operations
• Good to have: Understanding of AI for operations (AIOps, predictive monitoring, automation using AI, GenAI-based assistance tools)
• Prior experience in Life Sciences area is also a bonus. Other highly regulated industry experience will be considered also

Education/certification

• Degree level educated, preferably in science, maths or engineering areas.
• Azure Certification is a must - preferably Azure Administrator or Solutions Architect certified. AWS certification (SysOps Administrator or Solutions Architect Associate) is preferred.
