    About this role

    Job Summary

Senior Category Manager South - Business

    Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka

    Work type: Full time

    Workplace: On-Site

    Department: SriMandir (Pooja & Chadava)

    The Role

As the Senior Category Manager, you will own the South business P&L and drive its growth by building a relevant product catalog, defining pricing strategies, identifying new business opportunities, and improving app orders and customer conversion.

You will work closely with the puja calendar owner, marketing, creative, product, and retention teams, to translate regional rituals, festivals, and customer insights into commercially successful offerings.

This role offers the opportunity to build and scale a business from the ground up, with significant ownership and the ability to shape category strategy.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Business & P&L Ownership: Own the end-to-end P&L for the South business, driving revenue growth, profitability, and sustainable business performance. Define business goals, key performance indicators, and category-level growth plans. Identify opportunities to improve margins, increase average order value (AOV), and drive repeat purchases. Track business performance, identify gaps, and take data-backed decisions to improve outcomes.
    • Category Strategy & Catalog Development: Build and scale a differentiated South-focused puja catalog based on regional customer needs, rituals, and preferences. Define product assortment, SKUs, bundles, and offerings for key rituals, festivals, and everyday devotional needs. Identify underserved customer segments and new category opportunities. Work with relevant teams to evaluate product feasibility, availability, and operational readiness before launching new offerings. Continuously refine the catalog based on customer demand, sales performance, and emerging opportunities.
    • Pricing & Commercial Strategy: Define pricing strategies for new and existing offerings, balancing customer value, competitiveness, and profitability. Run pricing experiments to understand customer willingness to pay and improve conversion. Evaluate product-level economics, margins, discounts, and promotional effectiveness. Develop strategies for bundling, upselling, and cross-selling to improve revenue per order.
    • Growth & App Order Expansion: Drive growth in South business orders through relevant category initiatives and customer-focused offerings. Identify opportunities across app discovery, merchandising, conversion funnels, and customer journeys. Partner with product and growth teams to improve category visibility, conversion, and repeat engagement. Analyse customer behaviour and business data to identify growth levers and prioritise high-impact initiatives.
    • Festival, Ritual & Consumer Insights: Partner closely with the puja calendar owner to understand upcoming festivals, regional rituals, and high-intent purchase occasions. Translate festival calendars and ritual insights into relevant products, bundles, campaigns, and launch plans. Develop a deep understanding of South Indian devotional practices and differences in customer preferences across regions. Use customer feedback, market research, and sales trends to continuously improve the category proposition.
    • Cross-functional Execution: Collaborate with marketing and creative teams to develop compelling campaigns, product communication, and festival-led initiatives. Work with product, operations, and other relevant teams to ensure smooth execution of category launches and business initiatives. Drive alignment across stakeholders and ensure timely execution of priorities. Take ownership of outcomes while operating with limited hand-holding in a fast-paced environment.

    What Were Looking For

    • Category management experience: Experience managing a category or business with clear ownership of commercial outcomes, revenue, or P&L.
    • Strong commercial acumen: Ability to make sound decisions on pricing, assortment, margins, promotions, and business growth.
    • Entrepreneurial mindset: Comfortable building from the ground up, navigating ambiguity, and taking end-to-end ownership.
    • Analytical thinking: Ability to interpret business metrics, identify opportunities, and convert insights into actionable growth plans.
    • Customer-centricity: Strong understanding of consumer behaviour and the ability to build offerings around customer needs.
    • Execution excellence: Ability to work cross-functionally, manage multiple priorities, and deliver measurable business outcomes.
    • Learning agility: Curiosity to understand South Indian rituals, regional nuances, and devotional customer needs, even without prior domain expertise.

    Preferred Experience

    • Experience in quick commerce, e-commerce, D2C, online marketplaces, or other consumer internet businesses.
    • Experience managing a category or business with revenue and profitability targets.
    • Exposure to assortment planning, pricing experiments, promotions, merchandising, and conversion optimization.
    • Familiarity with South Indian markets, regional consumer behaviour, or devotional categories is an advantage, but not mandatory.
