Sr. Backend Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Engineer - Backend with 7-12 years of strong backend engineering experience to join our engineering team in Bangalore. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on engineer with strong expertise in Python and/or Node.js, along with experience building and shipping AI-powered products. You will take ownership of backend systems end-to-end from architecture and design through development, deployment, and production. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a startup environment, takes ownership of technical problems, and has a strong track record of turning ideas into production-ready products.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend services and APIs.
• Build backend systems using Python and/or Node.js, following clean architecture and engineering best practices.
• Own backend features end-to-end, from technical design and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Work closely with Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Build and ship AI-powered products and features that deliver measurable value to customers.
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities, LLMs, APIs, and other AI technologies into production applications where appropriate.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs, backend services, integrations, and data-processing pipelines.
• Make architectural decisions around scalability, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Identify and resolve complex production issues, performance bottlenecks, and reliability challenges.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and system-design decisions.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to improving engineering standards and practices.
• Stay current with emerging AI, backend, and cloud technologies and identify opportunities to improve the product and engineering processes.

Requirements:

• 7-12 years of professional software/backend engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and/or Node.js .
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, distributed systems, APIs, databases, and scalable application design.
• Proven experience building and shipping products to production, not just prototypes or POCs.
• Hands-on experience with AI-powered products, AI integrations, LLM applications, or similar AI-driven systems.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, testing, debugging, deployment, and production support.
• Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Strong problem-solving and system-design skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Technical Skills:

• Python, Node.js, REST APIs / GraphQL.
• SQL / NoSQL databases.
• Cloud platforms such as AWS/GCP/Azure.
• Docker and CI/CD.
• Redis, queues, event-driven architectures.
• AI/LLM APIs and frameworks.
• Experience with RAG, AI agents, vector databases, embeddings, or similar GenAI technologies is a plus.
