About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Analytics Consultant with strong commercial and small business banking experience to lead strategic credit risk, data, and analytics initiatives for a leading US banking client.
The role combines hands-on analytics leadership, project delivery and client stakeholder management. Working closely with the Engagement Manager, you will lead assigned workstreams and translate analytical findings into measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Credit Risk & Portfolio Analytics
- Translate business and credit risk questions into analytical frameworks, data requirements, and deliverables aligned with client priorities
- Analyze portfolio performance across commercial and small business borrower segments, products, risk grades, and exposures to identify concentrations, deterioration, and emerging risks.
- Assess credit scores for predictive performance, stability, and business impact; conduct score comparisons, swap-in/swap-out analysis, and credit policy simulations.
- Develop and evaluate credit limit strategies using borrower financial capacity, bureau data, utilization, payment behavior, and relationship exposure.
- Develop risk reports and dashboards, incorporating customer and legal entity linkages to provide a consolidated view of portfolio performance and credit exposures.
- Support small business underwriting and cross-sell pilots through targeting, eligibility criteria, test design, and measurement.
- Own workstream scope, priorities, timelines, and delivery quality; coordinate with teams across India and the US and proactively address risks and issues.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in banking, credit risk analytics, or financial services consulting with deep domain expertise in commercial and small business banking.
- Proven experience in credit policy development and optimization, risk score assessment, credit decisioning, and portfolio analytics.
- Experience working with internal banking and external credit bureau data, including sandbox environments.
- Advanced SQL skills with proficiency in Python, SAS, and R or comparable analytics tool.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake and Databricks, along with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Proven ability to lead complex analytical projects, manage client stakeholders, and mentor junior analysts.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and business writing skills, with the ability to deliver actionable recommendations and explain risk-return trade-offs.
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
